What I don’t understand is how could Spider-Man hold up against these guys? It seems like they could wipe the floor with him pretty quickly.

In the Maximum Carnage series, Venom and Spiderman team up to fight him.

Throughout the entire thing, Spiderman basically states that his body is broken from fighting him

This is such a bizarre take on these characters.

The Venom Symbiote nullifies Peter's Spider Sense. That, not needing webbing, and the strength amplification is where it gets it's main advantages and what it passed down to the children.

Venom also gets nerfed by either Eddie's willpower alone or when Flash Thompson (Agent Venom, great run) wore it drugged into an amiable state.

It really comes down to how much a writer is willing to let Peter (and Ben) not hold back. The two of em destroyed Carnage in a page in Clone Saga. Peter probably would have taken 2-3 pages by himself at that point.

Y'know I can't recall Kaine going toe to toe but I know he would have at some point and that would have just been a slam dunk for him with his hands burning through.

Maximum Carnage though was a complete disaster where Cletus went Helter skelter with a psychic that got NYC rioting. Along with the edgy goblin, a jackal experiment gone wrong and some body else. While Peter and Venom had philosophical disagreements about who should execute Cletus, the duly appointed authorities or Venom. So it was arguing peter and venom, some 3 avengers when they were c list, cloak and dagger, and firestar vs NYC. shite was fricked from go.

Long as we end up with a scene or two of Brock doing his part to make a better team. Even with the suit being amped by Peter he never skimped on his own workouts.
