POLITICO reported over the weekend that a bipartisan group of House members could introduce legislation as soon as September.
“He is a fantastic man who loves our Country, and feels strongly about the Motion Picture and Television Industry,” Trump said of Voight. “He hates what’s happened to it! It is being dissipated in its entirety. It has moved to Canada, and other Countries, with very little work being done anymore in the United States. Hollywood is a Complete and Total Disaster!”
For years, rich production incentives from countries around the world — among them Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom — have lured film and television shoots away from the United States. While many states offer credits of their own — California doubled the size of its offering last year to $750 million annually — those enticements have failed to stem the losses.

This is a federal bill to increase incentives for all states, thus increasing production throughout the country, including California and New York.

Yes, this isn't a call for what you think it is. This is a call to keep production in the states. That's a good thing. Not just for California, but for the country.

This of course in spite of the retardation by Roaad,” he said.

oh come on man, I'm just having fun with ya. Lighten up. But yeah, you're still wrong on what Trump is saying with this federal tax incentive. This would go beyond state incentives. Tax incentives are the reason why so much is being done in Georgia and for a spell in Louisiana. Not only are they cheaper states, but yeah, the money is there to utilize.
It's also the reason why Canada was getting any love at all. It's best to curtail productions going to Canada and eastern europe and the like and keep all those jobs in the states. It's a worthy goal.
Speaking of, did you know that's why Donald Sutherland and michael ironside were in so many pictures back in the day? The tax incentive required at least one Canadian actor so any picture that wanted that tax break had to get a name Canadian, well, there weren't that many in the 70s and 80s.

Not a fan of bailing out the film industry / SAG, irrespective of whether it is on the federal level or not.
I'm broadly not a fan of industry bailouts in general, but frick this one in particular.

I just think it is funny to have Trump bail out Hollywood, who loathes him
And all the Unions that have roasted him, kissing his arse.
I am not MAGA, mind you, but I am a fan of watching ideologues having to kiss the ring of the man they hate.
SAG, WGA, et al are as responsible as any other entity to Movies going elsewhere.
