It's on right now, I had to watch, it's been too long.... This is one of those movies that gets funnier everytime I watch it kinda like KingPin I had to come out and see what the consensus on TD was and I'm glad everyone loves this movie as much as I do. The few people I know that don't like the movie are either dense as shite or literally retarded

Awesome movie. Gets better ever time I watch it.
However, Cruise just isn't funny. He's wearing a fat suit, a bald cap, and cusses a lot. He's okay in his role and it fits into the story...but he's not funny.
There is only one scene with Cruise where I almost laughed. It's when he asks who the frick is talking. The director tells him it's the writer of the book who is a Vietnam vet, and Cruise momentarily quiets down and thanks the Vietnam vet for his military service before screaming, "...NOW SHUT THE frick UP AND LET ME DO MY JOB!"
I almost laughed.
Otherwise, Cruise is just an unfunny dude playing another unfunny dude.

I don't think ben stiller gets enough credit for being great at situational comedy.. He directed tropic thunder and starred in movies like zoolander, meet the parents were both solid comedies imo. And his character in happy Gilmore was pretty funny.

The movie's a shitfest. Tom Cruise's character were the only laugh-out-loud parts in the entire movie, and I hate Tom Cruise.

Same. I saw it in theaters and thought it was just kind of stupid.
I watched it a second and third and hundredth time and it's one of my all time favorite comedies.
I think the first time you see it you can't appreciate it becaue you don't realize they're being fake and over the top and terrible on purpose and it kind of throws you off. When you watch it the second time knowing the plot it's hysterical.
