The originals still did a good job of at least telling a solid story even though you could tell they were making a few plot changes as it went. The prequels is when it went completely off the rails.
Things like Yoda hanging out with Chewy. Why did Chewy remain silent when Luke said he was going to find a jedi master named Yoda?
I have read several of the new canon books and it appears they are trying to clean up the mess that Lucas has made by connecting all the dots in a coherent and entertaining way. That is why they also threw out most of the old books. It was time for a house cleaning so we can get the train back on the rails.

Agree. I just roll my eyes when I hear stories about Lucas knowing the full story before Star Wars came out.
Not to mention they wouldn't have the main Imperial weapon(death star) destroyed in the 1st installment. Hell, they knew there was no way to top that ending so they just did it again

Also, in the course of tracking down the stolen plans to the Death Star (with a damn battleship, so you get the impression it's pretty important that he stay on top of this and pay attention to details), he goes back to his home planet, the lead goes to his mom's house, and ... nothing?
Umm....they corrected this in "Attack of the Clones." I think you're underestimating how much Anakin hated sand. You think that hate of sand just went away once he became a clockwork boy? He clearly blocked out that part of his past because of all the sand.
Haha.

Well, too bad he goes there about 2 days after saying he doesn't like sand.
And could there be a single dumber place to hide Luke than at his mother's grave? I'd say out of all the places Vader is most likely to return, it would probably be there to honor his mother's memory. All it takes is for Vader to feel nostalgic one day, and poof Luke is dead.

Apparently a picture of "Snoke" has been leaked.

WHAT? Are you implying that there are holes in how the two trilogies line up? Nonsense!

Nope, Luke would join Vader and together they would rule the galaxy as father and son!!

Incredibly encouraging article interview with JJ Abrams on the approach they took to writing the force awakens.

I saw the snoke stuff. I have a strong feeling the name snoke won't be ever mentioned in a star wars movie.

Interesting side note- when Vader was force-choking that disrespectful general on the Death Star, he was referencing Vader's "sad devotion" to his religion. And Tarkin also seemed to know Vader's past, as seen when they discussed Vader sensing Kenobi. So at least in the higher levels, the Empire "knew" Vader was actually a former Jedi, and not just a random Sith (slight distinction there)
In one of "The Clone Wars" seasons Anakin and Kenobi rescue Tarkin and a captured Jedi to recover the plans for the Trade Routes or something to that affect. The Jedi (cant remember his name) had one half on the plan memorized and Tarkin had the other as he was the captain of the vessel The Jedi was General of. So at the end The Jedi gets killed during the escape and before he dies he tells Asoka his half. Once they return to the Jedi Temple Yoda tells both of them to be debriefed by The Council but Tarkin refuses as he is supposed to give his half to only Senator Palpatine. Tarkin then says that he and Senator have the same goals in mind and are very close. So Tarkin definitely knew Anakin before he turned into Vader and definitely knew Palpatine was Sidious.

There were rumors that Palpatine was force sensitive, and Tarkin suspected Anakin was Vader but no one knew for sure.

I guess what I was saying was that tarkin knew their past even if he never shared it with anyone.

Suspecting something isn't the same as knowing something.
