What does an actors political position have to do with anything? Also, if your main problem with Up in the Air is Clooney's role, you have issues.

Clooney's character changes in UP IN THE AIR how? The film had no ending. It's extremely overrated.

Why do his political views have to do with anything? Clooney is a smug son of a bitch condescending rich movie star. He already comes off as a prick. So he plays a pick.

Film will do modest business. I think it's overrated.

Back to the topic at hand, I fell asleep during two of three of the LORD OF THE RINGS movies. So they are on my overrated list.

I'd say almost all people who like the Lord of the Rings films aren't geeks. Most Lord of the Rings geeks don't like the films too much since it screws with the source material alot.

Dark Knight x100000000000000000000000

It is not a terrible movie. It is not a bad movie. There is nothing wrong with this movie.

But I saw it in theaters, I saw it once, and I will never see it again. It didn't bother me or bore me.. it's just not a movie I have a desire to sit through again. Like I said, it was not bad. But it certainly wasn't the greatest movie ever IMO like many have claimed.

Word.

I'd put Kill Bill at the top of my list. I do not see what all the fuss is about. And if the Matrix was this decade go ahead and up it on that one too.

let's assume for argument's sake that people don't' like it due to the homoeroticism--how is that the same as "homophobia"? I don't like romantic comedies either, but that doesn't mean i'm afraid of lame hetero couples, hugh grant or sandra bullock?

I disagree w/ the two mentioned above. I thoroughly enjoyed them both. As for some others that were mentioned, I love Crash, love Borat, love Kill Bill.

My list of most overrated:
The Departed
Slumdog Millionaire
The 40-Year Old Virgin
Wedding Crashers
Paranormal Activity
LOTR
Million-Dollar Baby
A Beautiful Mind

I will agree that the movie is overrated but Heath Ledger's performance was stunningly incredible.

I really don't see how so many people are saying Dark Knight.

No other comic book or action film touches that thing. Completely raised the bar x100 for what those kinds of movies can be.

Great acting, great storyline, great themes.

The thing was a freakin morality play.

TDK does not belong in this thread.

Just to reiterate, over rated does not mean the film is bad. All it means is its been hyped up to something it isn't. While I did enjoy it, I do think it is alittle overhyped, although it certainly wouldn't make it on my list.
