Awesome movie on the big screen. Just awesome. He was a marine sniper in Okinawa, yes, he was at the Ridge.

Hawkins kills it with his acting. Just the way he could convey a message with a raised eyebrow, came off as the steel of Rome. Great chemistry between he and Heston. Boyd is just that brutal villain you love to hate but can't underestimate. Chariot races. The actual time isn't that long in the movie but damn if it doesn't seem MUCh longer.

We both sniffled at the end where they try to meet Christ.

Ben-Hur is so good it's scary.

Still entertaining as hell and never is dated.

The action scenes (all of them) not just the Chariot scene are some of the best action scenes put to film.

The movie has almost everything. If you were to pick a movie that clicked the boxes of almost all genres, Ben-Hur might be it.

There's a reason it won 11 Academy Awards and was the 2nd highest grossing film of all-time in its day behind only Gone With the Wind.

AFI ranked it as the 2nd best "Epic" film of all-time only behind Lawrence of Arabia (which I think is the greatest film of all-time.)

It was ranked ahead of Schindler's List and Gone with the Wind, Spartacus and Titanic.

(But the fact that AFI rated it 72nd greatest American film of all-time is just retarded.) It was behind Forrest Gump, Tootsie, Rebel Without a Cause and Annie Hall.

Ben-Hur is Jesus-lite.

Go The Robe or go home.

I'd be more impressed if you took a Roman Centurian to see Saving Private Ryan.

But congrats on being next to greatness.

Movie was so well made, this vet of hacksaw Ridge was sniffling at the end.

Ironically, even though Ben Hur's family and freedom is restored, it's all going to be wiped out in a few short years when the Jews revolt.
