Had the joke not been made with Ludacris up there and about him as well, a close friend of Walkers, then it would have just been another lame celebrity death joke by a no talent arse clown. But it crosses the line when you use that death as a means to hurt people close to the person that died, who are standing a few feet away from you as you direct the joke to them.

You don't understand the forum at all. Or maybe I don't. I know for the Friar's Club roasts, the unspoken rule is nothing is off limits and if you get pissed you lose and look weak. It's supposed to be like a comedy art form gauntlet. The reaction is supposed to be WTF or "Oh My god did he just say that?" One of the last bastions of the unoffended.

Maybe it's different for these Comedy Central Roasts. But then it's just put downs.

I understand the format, and i know the goal is to really offend people, anything goes.
I just don't see how making fun of a friends death should ever be said. Everyone deals with death differently, and it should not be an emotion that gets brought up in this way.

I don't care that he said it, and i think it's dumb they edited it out. But i think he's a jackass for saying it and i don't care to watch someone that wants to make jokes about death in order to put down someone directly.

so you to would be ok with your friends ducking around you to make fun of the fact that you accidentally blew another friends head off in a hunting accident, assuming this hypothetically happened to you?

DO'nt know who sam hunt is, and i'm the exact opposite of what you just described.

I don't care that he said the joke, and think it's stupid it was edited out. you just have to be a piece of shite to say something like that.

You seem to think it's ok to make fun of Paul Walker's death to his friends b/c you don't care about him or his friends and since they are rich and famous, they somehow brought it upon themselves.

Umm, Paul Walker died engaging in reckless behavior that had already been proven to kill people. He literally did bring it on himself.

He wasn't driving, fyi, but nonetheless, still died engaging in doing something wreckless.

Jim Norton and company kind of touched on this subject this morning. They seemed to be on both sides of the fence. On one hand, people are way too sensitive nowadays and have the medium of the internet to voice all their opinions. Also noted that these offended people use the medium to shout for justice for them being offended.

On the other hand, Norton did come out and say how it is kind of lame for comics to use jokes like this sometimes. He compared it to a guy walking into a room and slamming a bottle on the wall so everyone will notice him. If he didnt do it, no one would see him enter the room or care that he is there. Making a joke like that was the only way to get noticed because their normal comedy jokes werent anything noteworthy.

I can agree with both sides and I dont think its as black and white as people are making it out to be.

I can see the hack argument, but that's completely different than the offensive argument. Unless you're saying that bad jokes are offensive to you (which I say, as a joke, sometimes).

exactly

the offensive argument is about taste, which is generally speaking so varied and subjective as to not be worth debating

i liked the jeff ross joke he told to courtney love a few years back. it might have helped her

It is but I guess they were saying it may go hand in hand.

They seemed to be disgusted with the amount of people that get offended and shout to the heavens for justice on social media and expect everyone to follow suit.

They did seem think it is normally done by a comedian that cant rely on other bits and has to use the abnormally offensive look at me joke. Almost like they would never expect someone like Louis or Chappelle to make a joke like that.

Its interesting to hear other comics talk about their industry

I think that's true... except when it is something like one of the jackass guys killing himself while drunk driving. They wouldn't shy from the truth about that one... if you as a public figure die from your own sustained/determined stupidity you will hear about it from the public including comedians

If I accidentally killed my friend, THEN accepted an invite to participate in a roast, I would be disappointed if it wasn't brought up.

If I wasn't comfortable having it brought up, I wouldn't participate.

That's like going to a brothel and being uncomfortable a whore starts sucking your dick.

That's what happens there.

A comedian making fun of a dead person at a roast is totally different than you naming your fantasy baseball team "Crash Test Taveras"
