I'm not in favor of casting a black man as Snape as it will change the perceived motivations of several principal characters, but let's not act like Rickman was book perfect casting. He was 30 years older than the Snape of the books who was a classmate of James and Lily who died in their mid 20s. So Snape should have been in his mid 30s when Harry entered hogwarts, but most of the audience hand waved that away because of Rickman's performance.

Exactly. These same people that are able to completely overlook a 30 year age diff and enjoy the movies arent able to overlook a skin color change because Reasons, but none of them are even remotely racist lol
It should be on the same level, and for most reasonable people it is something that the show can overcome like the age change and 100s of other changes.
