Legit. I torrented it a while back and it was great. Sagan was the first to become famous explaining astrophysics and concepts of the universe to the general population. Hawking and the ilk all followed his example.
He also coined the term "billions and billions."
I think Einstein might have a claim to that. Different medium of course but I think he was pretty famous for just that.
And speaking of Sagan and Hawkings, I'm kind of curious about the relationship between them. I always thought they were pretty close friends (and perhaps they were). But on reading up on Hawkings recently, they said that Sagan wrote the foreword to the first edition of Hawkings' book "A Brief History o Time" but that since Sagan and not Hawkings had copyrighted the foreword, it only appeared in the first edition. That struck me as odd.

I don't think that he ever said "billions and billions". That was the go-to impression used by Johnny Carson and other comics. Sagan just had a unique way of pronouncing the word "billions" and they took off on it.

I remember it was a big deal to watch when it first aired all those years ago.

After watchign the first 6 episodes yesterday, I noticed something. Moby's God Moving Across teh Face of Water sounds a lot like Cosmos music. It's not the same but pretty close.
Listen from 7:45 Cosmos
Listen from 4:25 Moby
Is it just me?
