Didn’t think I would like this episode going in, but it was really well done. Interesting to see how Deja’s mom is not near as bad of a mom as what I originally thought. Still a bad mom, but not as bad as I thought.

That was a good episode. Deja's mom just can't get right and Deja is paying for it.

I see folks say this, but I totally don't understand it. Yes, she could've been MORE of a trainwreck, but she's still a trainwreck, all the same. Constantly blowing off her daughter to hang with some random swinging dick, shacking up with a dude she met IN REHAB? Using the money for their gas bill to bail said dirtbag boyfriend out of jail?
frick her. She failed her child at every available opportunity, and she failed herself before that. Shawna would've been better off letting Deja stay with the Pearsons to begin with, not grandstanding and making a show of it, then falling on her face again.

I can't figure out how Deja's mom even owns a car to sleep in.
It was interesting how they compared all the births and lives of the kids growing up, but I got a bit bored.
It appears Shawna sees how much better off Deja is at the Pearson home, but I'm ready for this storyline to move on along. I'm not itching to know if Shawna really leaves or comes back. It wasn't much of a cliffhanger to me.
ETA: I bet there's a problem with Randall and Beth taking Deja in without getting in touch with the social worker. ugh.

I really thought after the Jack’s death and funeral episodes that they were going to start exploring Jack’s time in Vietnam with his brother. At least NBC teased it that way. I guess that’s going to wait until next season. Looks like we’re going to have a double cliffhanger with Deja’s mom leaving for a reason we don’t know yet and I’m sure something will be happening at Kate’s wedding.

And Randall and Tess coming to terms with Beth’s death?
I came to a bit of a realization at the end if Beth does in fact die. This series will come full circle as Randall (Rebecca) comes to terms with Beth’s (Jack’s) death. Beth is perfect just like Jack. Just a thought...may be way off.

So next season is Kevin/Zoe exploring Vietnam and Jack and his brother storyline...
interested to see where this goes.
Also what a 180 of Kate/Toby... where as Kate has been the moody off balanced one, and now Toby will be super depressed again.
