Chris Pratt is an A+ funny likable guy. Chris Pratt is a D+ super cool serious brooding guy. Chris Pratt really really wants to be a serious brooding guy.

He was great as the funny/likable/serious DEVGRU operator in ZDT, which I assume was a factor here. James Reece is probably a bit more brooding and dark than that, but not completely humorless.

Really liked the first book then feel like it kinda fell off.

I agree they've declined, but the 4th one is the first where I really started to think the series was faltering a bit. I love Jack Carr and the accuracy and research he brings to a genre where there is a lot of sloppiness (cough, Ben Coes...) but the plot holes/disconnects are getting bigger as the series goes on. The Katie parts in particular have started to drag pretty badly.

Pratt has jumped from comedy to action well.

The only action role I remember him taking without comedy is Zero Dark Thirty.
I liked him in that.

All his other action roles have depended on a decent element of comedy (GotG, Jurassic World, Passengers, whatever that Amazon one was last year.)
Tomorrow War on Prime...

I'd say he showed HUMANITY, more than comedy, in both that movie and Passengers. In Tomorrow War, I thought the comedy was nervous chatter coming more from some of the other conscripts, and him keeping them level.

I don't really remember much actual comedy in Passengers, either- they just made him a real person instead of a machine.

He plays that type of role really well IMO, a "real person" who is capable of handling himself when he needs to. I don't know if this series goes in that direction, but he's got the ability to make you identify/empathize with him.

A good original movie from Amazon Prime, definitely better than the average crap that’s on TV today.
