The best way I’ve seen it is that they didn’t sign up to write fan fiction.
They signed up to make GRRM books into a show.
He sorta failed to write 3 books in 10 years.
Or this is his end game andmaybe well like it better because GRRM fleshes it all out.

It’s fruitless to get bent out of shape over military details in shows and movies. Just suspend disbelief. The storytellers are telling stories, and just like every storyteller that’s ever lived, their goal is not to be “realistic.” Their goal is to entertain.
There has not been one single show or movie that has stuck to military convention, faithfully. “Weapons and tactics” are boring to all but about 10% of the population. And within that 10%, only about 1% grasp that victories are won on cash, food, and supplies. It’s boring to portray all of that on film or television. Don’t complain about the firing rate of weapons being unrealistic if there’s no discussion about how the ammunition got there, or how the men were trained. If you want to hold a show to standards of “realism,” then be consistent.
Game of Thrones happens in a world that is not like our world. There’s magic and dragons and people coming back from the dead. There’s an all-seeing tree-kid-in-a-wheelchair and an eight-foot-tall man-monster and shadow demon assassins. If you’re okay with ANY of that, then you can’t gripe about inconsistent military realism in the show. You’re cherrypicking your complaints.

This, and that they would take the time to hammer out or carve a damn lions head to go onto each Scorpion is killing me. They were in a mad rush to build all of these things, and decide to complicate the building process with decoration! Come on.
It's a knit pick.
I have to assume that Drogon is a much more savy flying dragon because he was never chained up in Maureen. I guess. I don't know why dragon fire explodes things though. Harenhall was specifically melted. The Red Keep exploded. What gives?

Killing Rhaegal ended up making zero sense as well. It would have made more sense for Dany to take KL with 2 dragons anyway. So one scorpion hits Drogon last season. 50 or so scorpions destroy Rhaegal and almost get Drogon. 100+ scorpions don't even get close to hurting Drogon and he goes scorched Earth on the city.

You got that wrong. It’s their job to suspend our disbelief not us to surrender disbelief. So when you make 100 of these things overnight and have crews that are accurate with them it actually heightens disbelief. I mean they hit the dragon a few times and take out a bunch of ships with barely a miss. Total bullshite especially in the context of the show.

It’s awful. The Dragons are so fricking op the entire series. Then one gets killed by a white walker. It was shocking. “Holy shite! The ww killed a fricking dragon!” Mind blown. We soon find out that the ww aren’t shite anyway.
The next dragon death is a buffoon shooting an arrow. Really? That’s all it takes?
For the life of me I can't figure out why they didn't have them ambush them at Dragonstone. It makes the most sense. Dragon lands and they come out of the shadows to kill it. DT flies away at the last second. I'm not a great writer but this idea is WAY better.

And don’t dragons have some sort of limit to how much fire they can breathe in one sitting?
You would think their glands need some time to recharge, like snake venom.

So, it’s the job of a show with dragons and an undead army to suspend your disbelief about how things happen?
Think about what you’re saying. If they need to take the time to show and explain the inner workings of something as mundane as scorpion construction, supply, training, and operation, in order to make it believable to you, should they not also explain the inner workings of the dragon’s fire breath, the specific (and mind you... “realistic”) way the Night King controls the dead and how shadow demons biologically come out of a witch?
Or are you saying that you will suspend disbelief for some things but not others? How can you assume dragons are a thing, but not that say, that one thousand people worked 360,000 man hours in a month to make and supply 100 giant crossbows? Does the show really have to put that on the screen for you to believe it? But not ever discuss how dragon breath (a more unbelievable and more decisive weapon) is generated?

The thing that irritates me the most is that prior to getting the SW job, they were going to leave to make "Confederate," a series about what the US would've been like if the South had won the Civil War.
They were ditching 10 seasons with 10 episodes each of one of the greatest TV series ever for a series no one asked for or gave a shite about. Genius.

I kind of agree. However, you are ignoring Bronn hitting one before the WW did. The Scorpions were introduced as a weapon that could seriously harm a dragon if it landed before the WW ever took one down.

At the castle she could also dive straight down, since the scorpions were all aimed outward.
Big difference between encountering a new weapon and planning an attack on a known weapon.
This.
We noticed it last night. It’s all about angle of attack.

Safe bet Euron would’ve been rocking them. As a fashion statement.

The biggest problem I have with this season is that they are trying to force what should be 2 long seasons into 1 short season.
