The Puerto Rican Day is a really odd episode

The apartment scenes are hilarious but the rest of the episode is really strange. It probably has something to do with it being a group writing project. The episode has 10 writers. The producing is unusual for Seinfeld where it uses odd camera angles and just has a weird vibe to it. It’s almost like they used it at the end of the series like a different secret track on the end of a cd.

The Indian Wedding episode is the worst. I just haven't seen the PDP episode enough to have an opinion.

Besides being obviously different the Betrayal is definitely the point where the production quality changed. But the Puerto Rican day took it to a new level.

The Pennypacker, Varnsen, Vandelay encounter is one of my favorite scenes from the show. So silly...

"Jerry, that's in SWEDEN!"

Is that different from the rest of the episodes? I assume Seinfeld was like every other show that has a staff full of writers and they all contributed to every episode. Maybe I'm wrong

Most were written by one or two people. The PRD as mentioned, has 10.

I want to say Larry David and Jerry wrote almost every episode in the earlier seasons themselves.

Pretty much. Larry David stopped writing in the later seasons and The Puerto Rican Day was the last episode before Larry David came back to write the finale so all the writers had a big group effort.

Larry last episode was in Season 7 before he came back for the Finale.

It did have a weird feel. That last season of Seinfeld was kinda disappointing. This episode just wasn't all that funny.

It's not my favorite episode by any means but I'm always amazed at the hate this episode gets. I think people hate it so much just because it's different. The jokes and storylines are all classic Seinfeld.

That's precisely why I hate it, although I don't hate it just because it's different, I hate it because of the way that it is different. That style of storytelling works great for a story like Memento. Not so much with a sit com.

I don’t know why they credited 10 people with writing this particular episode but how it normally works is that the whole writing staff works on every episode but they have to give one writer the written by credit. Even if that person isn’t necessarily largely responsible for that episode.
