I didnt like Adams either but the pacing of the relationship was fine.

I just felt like "bam" they are close now after saying 20 words to each other.
I have said it before. I have never been a fan of Superman and I thought this was the best Superman movie I have seen. But I still thought it was terrible.
Did find it interesting that they spent 220 million making the movie and made 180 million on cross promotion of the movie before it even was released.
Movie could have bombed on an epic level and they would have still made a profit

here's something I haven't seen discussed anywhere yet
when Superman killed Zod, did that family die?
I've seen it twice now and really watched the 2nd time to see if it was alluded to either way and still couldn't tell. It seems like he killed Zod to prevent them being killed, but also that Zod was giving him the choice to kill him which would kill the family

Well he did crack his neck... kinda tilted it towards the family.... maybe

Family lived. It was clear that the only way to save them was to kill Zod. So he did. Zod's dying heat vision was directed away from the family during the neck breaking.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie-much better than the Donner/Reeve version, in my opinion. And this is coming from somebody who grew up on that version and saw four of them in the theater.
The only complaint for me was what everybody else said. They sure rebuilt the devistation of that city pretty damn quick! But I'm able to let my imagination believe that in the Hollywood world - it just happened.

The body count was too high. Superman cares for all life , not just people he love . Wish the movie showed. Him saving more civilians.

That not the impression that i got but facial expressions can be taken different ways to different people. Guess well find out in MoS 2
So wait.
Wait wait wait.
You get brow beaten with Lois doing the research retracing his steps, leading up to her going to the Kent farm.
You get a scene of her standing by Jonathan's grave telling him that she knew he would pop up if she turned over enough stones.
You get it clearly said in dialogue that she knows his identity, which is why the FBI comes.
When she is separated from Superman and needs to give him the plan to take care of the Zod's crew, she races to Kent farm as the obvious meeting point.
But you think the facial expressions at the end are open for interpretation?

anyway, how the hell did that ship end up on earth? I thought that was the biggest plothole in the whole movie.
The biggest plothole wasn't that, but a related issue:
How did Crowe design a 20k year old ship?

Damn good question

He designed the ship Zod was on, not the scout ship.

Two things I like about this movie that I don't see much talking about:
1) Kent's death and portrayal of it, how it was edited into the film. Although I could have done without the stereotypical "fight before a loss" with the line "YER NOT MY REAL DAD!" right before.
2) How they portrayed the near invulernability of them without going the super cheesy bit of Superman returns' bullet in the eye.
Having them fight and the military shoot at them only to be basically ignored was a great touch.

So I've seen the movie twice now (once in 2D and once in IMAX 3D), and the ending still sticks with me.
As a lifelong Superman fan, I was shocked and upset after the first viewing of the killing of Zod. Superman just doesn't kill....anyone.
Then I reflected on it, and Supes really had no choice. The Kryptonian technology to send Zod to the Phantom Zone was gone. Zod was never going to stop terrorizing the human race.
Now, could they have written the script in such a way where Zod could have been neutralized?...maybe. But that wouldn't have been as interesting.
I think the filmmakers were trying to show how Kal-El made the ultimate decision to choose humanity over his fellow Kryptonians. His look of anguish afterwards was indicative of that...he had not only just taken a life..but emotions of how he had just killed the last remaining remnant of his world, avenged his father, etc....all played into it.
Very very curious to see where they take the character in the sequel.

Thats what I want to see.
I don't know where can they TAKE his character without cheapening what happened here or pretending it didn't happen.

Haven't had time to read this thread but wanted to say this movie was badass. No idea what the negative reviews are about with this movie.

This. I watched the original version with Reeves today an thought it was a lot slower than this one. I definitely enjoyed the new one better.
