My problem is with the power scaling. I mean you have Vegeta and Goku training their whole lives and they’re able to go super Saiyan 2. With Cabba, Kale and Caulifla all it takes is a tingling in the back!? I mean I know they did it with Krillin and Roshi too to some extent.

His backstory sucked but I liked him

But Jiren wasn't really a villain... He was just kind of a force of nature standing in their way.
I liked him as an antagonist, it was kind of refreshing just to have a big strong guy to go against without him having to be some evil, maniacal badguy. They had plenty of that in the Zamasu arc... Almost too much. It got real dark.
If you've read or seen any of the Manga after the ToP, it looks like the show kind of gets back to Z form with a new, big mysterious and true villain. (won't spoil anything on his identity).
I also like how Jiren can now kind of be that guy hanging out there that Goku can maybe call on if he needs a big help. After all, he is kind of the new mark for the most powerful non-diety around (and he's even stronger than many of the lower God's of destruction)
He and Broly are the 2 big guns out there that can maybe play big roles down the road.

Guys the lady friend wants to watch dbz with me and I want to buy the version I grew up watching uncut with the faulconer music. Can you guys help me out tracking down the DVD's I'm looking for?

Some dude on the Rant pulled the "LOL you're a DBZ fan so you're gay and in 3rd grade" card.

The Orange Bricks have all 3 tracks (Japanese, English with Japanese music, English with Faulconer). I'm sure they're cheaper than the stupid Blu Rays.
Now, remember that all the episodes up to Goku fighting Captain Ginyu had a different soundtrack (and voice actors) before Faulconer music. If you want those, you'll have to get the "Rock the Dragon" set or track down the old Pioneer singles.
TLDR - Orange Bricks
Why is this thread anchored?

Power levels have been bullshite for a very long time

Gohan going ssj2 VS cell remains my favorite arc of the series. But Vegeta's speechto Goku on Namek is my favorite moment in the series.
That's guy is stupid.

Which one is the late 90s early 2000s toonami editions and voices etc...? I know they edited out alot of the blood and violence. I remember the first time I found that out and I got the unedited versions and saw Freiza bouncing Krillin on his horns.

That started with season 3 in 99 (Goku fighting Ginyu).
It's weird, the first 68 episodes were condensed into 53 episodes during seasons 1 and 2. The editing/censoring was even worse. "It's okay, guys! I see their parachutes!" Dying became "getting sent to the next dimension." Hell became the Home for Infinite Losers.

Really? I can remember watching Radditz and Goku and Piccolo and Gohan's little kid headbutt and all that on Toonami? Maybe they added those later?

Those were on Toonami but that was the Ocean Dub. It started out in syndication via Saban.

Question is, when did it start?
I'll say with the Majin Buu saga. As much as it entertained me, that was the point in which power levels became bizarrely inconsistent.
Super has been an absolute clusterfrick in terms of power scaling.

I mean the last time we got an "official" power level was when future Trunks first showed up to kill Frieza.

When Goku went Super Saiyan of we're being honest. After that nothing else but a Saiyan mattered. And power levels didn't matter either. Just what level of super saiyan you could rise too.

Thanks for that. I guess I have to figure out how to get my hands on those sets. I'd love to watch it like I did on Toonami the first time. Same voice actors and music everything.

The Rock the Dragon set came out in 2013. It's pretty rare now though. Might be cheaper to track down the 17 DVDs released by Pioneer.

Orange Bricks for me, something about the Funi dub plus the Falcouner score just does it for me
