The Odyssey has passed $400 million at the domestic box office as of this morning.

Good for Christopher Nolan. That doesn’t mean that everybody has to think it’s a good movie.

Has anyone on TD rated it as 10/10?

i'm against the woke as anybody, but I haven't seen any real life people call this 10/10.

i enjoyed it and thought it captured a true epic, unlike many movies since Lord of the Rings, Mad Max, 1917, or Interstellar.

Fell flat on many areas, but the most entertained I've been this year outside of Project Hail Mary.

ETA: just so I am not misquoted/understood, it's a 7.5/10. I enjoyed Interstellar, tDK, Inception, and Prestige more than this. Interstellar and Prestige by far.

I can’t imagine this movie being part of the cultural zeitgeist in 5-10 years.

Now to see what TD thinks…

Stage 1: Release “BeST mOVie EVAR!!”
Stage 2: Two months in “it was a solid effort”
Stage 3: It was retarded

This will end up going the way of TDKR.

Best movie ever to retarded in the next 10+ years

Nah, felt about average. I’ve never been one to get caught up with the seal clapping though, so carry on

Nah dude, give yourself credit. You have a much more refined palate for movies than the rest of us as well.

The Odyssey is average at best, the bar is SO LOW today that no one notices the flaws as much though

If this were released in the 1990’s it would have been panned

Are you really about to argue this movie contends with the great movies from the 1990s? Please enlighten us. This should be fun.

Most of the big epic movies from the 90s and 80s were heavily flawed as well. We just didn't pick them apart online incessantly.

We just...enjoyed things.

I remember laughing at siskel and ebert complaining about the characters in the original jurassic park being weak and thin as well.

There will always be snooty critic types that need to find "flaws" to prove how superior they are to the rest of us. Reminds me of wine connoisseurs

Let me break it down in simpler terms:

These are some of the greatest movies ever made:
Batman begins
Inception
The prestige
The Dark Knight (first 2/3rds of the movie)

These are some of the most brain dead movies ever made:
Tenet
The Dark Knight Rises
The Dark Knight (last 1/3 of the movie)

The Odyssey is somewhere between great and brain-dead, ergo nothing special

The Dark Knight rises is fine. I dont know where you got the idea that its widely hated nowadays... Its still in the IMDB top 100 movies of all time list. The Bane memes still show up 15 years later.

the vast majority of the people that have enjoyed the movie have rated it somewhere between a 7.5 and 8.5

so what are you even ranting about, as most people seem to be in agreement with you?

Who said I was ranting? If you are reading my posts as a rant, maybe the issue is with you, not me.

The Dark Knight Rises is one of the dumbest movies ever made: just write out the plot beat by beat and read it out loud to yourself.

That wasn’t hyperbole. Nolan has been wildly inconsistent. He has been the greatest and the worst.

It’s not my fault you don’t know how to comprehend things: Especially with the use of mixed caps to convey that I am in fact, mocking those who use hyperbole in the first place.
