John Stone was obviously the real killer. He was the guy on the motorcycle. A down on his luck defense attorney who needed a big case for financial solutions. A penchant for taunting subway riders with sharp objects. A master of covering his entire body with everything from saran wrap to mickey mouse gloves in order to leave no traces of DNA. A sexually frustrated individual with acute knowledge of the effects of street drugs. A torturer of animals, literally bringing them to death's door only to reclaim them and do it all over again and again. It was Stone.

I liked the scene where the DA is holding the knife and realizes the shape of the knife would not cause a cut on Naz's hand and drops the rest of her close.
I still have no idea why the complete lack of blood on Naz went completely ignored.
The show failed as a whodunnit and as a social commentary.
That said, I don't regret watching. And hey we are at 53 pages here!

The writers on this series could have used your imagination...they were totally lacking in that department.

Really glad this is over. What a waste of time.

Wow, so why is the "it only takes one to acquit" such a common phrase? I mean, that's a pretty common phrase. Is it because the states will rarely retry so it's essentially the same thing?
If it's a capital murder case in Louisiana, there must be an unanimous vote to convict. Anything less than an unanimous vote results in a hung jury and mistrial. All other crimes require less than unanimity.
Contrary to what you saw last night on this show, an ADA IS NOT GOING TO DECLARE TO NOT RETRY right after a mistrial has been ordered....none. First, ADAs usually don't have that authority from the DA. The higher the profile of the case the more likely there will be a retrial; DAs are political animals and they'll spend the money pursuing a defective case just to avoid the press and/or potential challengers from calling him incompetent.
ETA: In real life, the DA would have waited a few weeks and announced that "new found evidence" (the video of the financial consultant) has convinced him that there is a more likely suspect and they are pursuing the leads they have. With the new facts in hand, the office will not seek a retrial.
Additionally, the failure of the DA's Office not providing the video in question to defense counsel, would result in a conviction being overturned and the ADA possibly going to jail for failure to disclose exculpatory information.

It says on his door in his office "....."/CPA. Try watching it again before you once again make yourself look stupid

quote:I thought the exact same. I didn't really know why Freddie would do that, but the way the scene was playing out, I thought it was coming.
Anyone else think towards the end when Freddie and Naz were smoking and Freddie was saying he loved Naz that he was about to shank him? They had some creepy music going on

So,..think the series will return with the same title but with a new cast and story?

I have no idea why people would voluntarily watch something they've said is terrible since episode 2-3 for another 6 wks. If I don't like a show I just quit watching rather than watching it to get pissed off and post about how shitty it is. This phenomenon is so weird to me.

Aagreed. While the series was not "all world", I found it entertaining and better than most things of TV. This and "The Tunnel" on PBS have kept me mollified during an otherwise down time in programming.

It's a little different when you're dealing with an 8 episode mini series. Especially with a show like this that has many great aspects (acting, directing, etc). So it's a lot easier to continue the short series than it is to continue a normal length tv series that someone may not like. It's not like they just continued watching for 3 10 episode series

I said the same thing about True Detective S2 because I wanted to believe. Gave up on The Night Of after episode 4. Piss poor writing. So much potential wasted. Looks like the kid got off. I had hoped he rotted.

Was really hoping in the surveillance footage of Andrea and the financial advisor arguing, she would walk away... And he would hop on a motorcycle ... Thought for sure they were going to come back to That
it was entertaining enough for me to keep watching knowing that it wasn't a long term investment of my time, but the show completely lost me when the lawyer, who last episode we saw has feelings for him, willingly accepts that her new convict boyfriend/client is now a drug dependent, goes into a sketchy neighborhood and buys drugs from a sketchy drug dealer, and then sneaks them into a prison cell knowing there are cameras (can make the same argument about their makeout session too) ... I enjoyed her character and then they ran it straight into the ground... I wouldn't watch a second season of this show for the simple fact of that piece of writing

Looks to me that Freddy got to the jury. Also was I the only one who thought the DA sounded like she was drunk half the time. I did think that Naz might have a flashback like before, while using drugs, and show him stabbing her.

The FA jumping on a motorcycle in the footage would have been way too clever of writing for this show
Sometimes I wonder what goes on in these readings/screenings/edit sessions. Are they really not picking up on this stuff?

Why did they give the final shot to the cat? I guess that's some metaphorical stuff that went over my head.
Nice plug by the ASPCA, though

quote:I think just the opposite. It had enough...something...to keep us interested. But the problem with the show is it was the exact opposite of solid. shite was everywhere and got more ridiculous as it went on.
You guys all crack me up. So much nitpicking!
Good ending to a really solid show.
I've only read the thread since episode 3(I posted regularly in it before that). I didn't want to shite on a show that we were all voluntarily watching. But now that it's over I can say...good mess gracious they fricked up this show. If it was more than 1 season I'd have dropped it with the quickness. I didn't hate the show, and even enjoyed parts of it, but they fricked it up really bad.

quote:Her character was AWESOME. Then they had her smuggle drugs into a jail cell in her pussy knowing damn well there are cameras everywhere.
I enjoyed her character and then they ran it straight into the ground
