I will tell you woke idiots this:
House of the Dragon did it right. They worked on inclusion and diversity that makes sense for the narrative and story. Been a great series that has blown Rings of Power out of the water.
When you frick with well-established lore and literature, the way this show has you are going to get some blowback. Judging by the reception of both shows I suspect we will be watching House of the Dragon long after Rings of Power has been cancelled and that's a crying shame for something that could have been epic if nuance would have been considered to implement some of the current societal overtones.
Instead, people like you will ride this thing all the way into the unfinished ground instead of pushing to have a more real representation of the actual literature it is based off

It isn't. Reviews are not trending well. Calling everyone "racists" and "misogynists" because they call out the issues is sad.
People can want faithful adaptations, with nuance, without being labeled with this fricking nonsense.

Here’s the thing, I was in the 12 page thread where the crying about supposed “wokeness” was incessant. And the same people that whined in there largely still continue. You frame it like people have come to accept it, they haven’t. There is no acceptance for many when it comes to anything that does not portray stories in the hyper white male dominant fashion they are comfortable with

On the one hand I do genuinely think a lot of people in these bubbles have convinced themselves this is true.
They silo themselves in these bubbles and then when reality doesn’t reflect it, they go into shock and grasp for any rationalization to explain away the discrepancy, and it usually involves a conspiracy and nefarious plot against them.
On the other, the evidence is pretty fricking clear. The most popular HBO show running is about a trans woman and her on and off again black girlfriend. Bridgerton, the show that reimagines historical London high society and cast a huge array of POC in key roles is amongst Netflix’s top 5 shows of all time. “Too woke” Disney+ is the fastest growing streaming service. HBO’s Watchmen was review bombed by incels angry it wasn’t the Snyder interpretation that missed the blatant anti-fascist tone and it’s strong anti-racist messaging, and went on to continually climb in the ratings going from less than a million a week to nearly ten million.
This board, simply put, is a bubble. To suggest it reflects society writ large would be the definition of gaslighting

What YOU don't want to talk about is that this was always going to be a much looser adaptation, because they just don't have a full novel to work with. (they do but its the Hobbit and the LOTR trilogy which don't need a remake)
You said you have become more open minded but your whole argument is that this show should have been more faithful to the lore. Thats not open minded at all. The show is actually interesting and good.

But if you want to talk about other aspects of the show, I think You have to be reasonable with expectations of “faithfulness”
