Did you read the other short stories in Skeleton Crew? The Jaunt? It's longer than you think.

Yeah the ending of that one was pretty brutal

Interestingly enough, probably the two best movie/TV adaptations of his works are the ones that aren't horror/supernatural: Stand By Me (The Body) and The Shawshank Redemption.

The Green Mile was amazing, too.

As for things that caught me by surprise by really freaking me out were "Thinner" and "Insomnia". The things that he can imagine that can scare the crap out of you are limitless.

Now I hear they are also making a movie from The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. I'll be interested to see how it turns out, too.

I read it, but it didn't stick with me like the others. It has been over 35 years or so...

Not a gypsy around that can beat that curse.

I'm an unabashed SK fan, and I really don't think he'll get his due until the academics start putting together the interconnectedness of his entire career's work.

Anyway, MTS is one of my absolute favorites and almost no one mentions it, so thanks for upping a great one.

I always thought that MTS always felt like an amazing episode of The Twilight Zone after reading it. I may have to dig it up and read it again, now.

I like a lot of SK stuff from before 2000. Haven’t read much I’ve liked from the last 20+ years. Some are ok.

I was absolutely not happy with him inserting himself into the Dark Tower near the end. That was hackish and inexcusable.

I agree he has done a good job connecting different stories together. While I hated him injecting himself into the Dark Tower, I loved him bringing in Father Callahan.

Saw it today. I really enjoyed the movie didn’t mind the combination of book characters to a movie character.

Ending shocked me, I thought they were gonna go with book ending and have garraty win. But having Peter win is fine. While listening to the audiobook at one point I thought they were gonna go with Peter.

I liked not having the shadow person in the distance. It makes sense for the book and that time period. But I thought if in the movie would have been a little odd.

Yeah the ending threw me off because I was expecting the book’s ending. I also recall in the book (and it’s been ages since I read it) King developed the Stebbins character a lot more and he was of much greater importance towards the end. They sort of just glossed over the “twist” with him before he got his ticket.

The acting was great especially Jonsson. I also can’t recall a film adaptation of a book matching my brain’s idea of the setting as this one did.

I did not like it at all. I thought this movie was trash and could have been much better.

Yes, I can see the stebbins character not being fleshed out in the movie. The “twist” didn’t hit like it did in the book.

Ik they had to trim some of the book, but I wish they had scramm. I enjoyed his story during the book.

Jonsson
Another thing I didn’t like Jonsson “accent”. But then I learned he’s from England and it was his actual accent.

I thought jonsson and Hoffman were great in the movie. They talked about wanted to do more movies together in the future and I am down for that.
