What annoys me about that show (well, one thing) is that much of the mystery, tension, and drama feels awfully forced.
"Hey mystery guy, what's your name?"
"Not gonna tell you"
(Insert important question)
-other character says nothing.
Something barely dramatic happens.

i think it's just to show how weird and impersonal sexual contact was there. it would have been better to have her get "fricking" and see if she'd go through with it, as a real test for her character
my guess is that she represents the denial/refusal to accept stage of grieving a loss. that really ugly/dirty scenario, all around, was just a reminder of how fricked up things are (remember it was sold as a way for her to get out)
