For whatever reason, I took it as some sort of cancer, or even something like HIV (which would tie into the gay thing, but also being isolated like that would mean you have a far greater chance of not coming into contact with viruses that could end up killing you - like pneumonia).
The main reason I don't think Lou Gherig's works is because of how NOT deteriorated he seemed toward the end
HIV(AIDS) is a non-starter. Bill would have had the virus also.

Do we think Joel put everything of survival value that he didn't put in the vehicle into Bill's bunker, assuming he'll be back there a bunch throughout the show?
I know people were kind of hyper-focusing on Ellie and the TP, but I don't imagine they showed us everything that they picked up. I imagine he packed quite a bit and likely packed other guns/ammo (he just didn't want Ellie to have a firearm).
But they're headed to Wyoming in a post-apocalyptic world so I can't imagine we'll see a whole lot of time there depending on where the story takes us.

Joel did set the president earlier leaving that gun in the store stating that there isn't much ammo out there for that type of gun. Maybe he only took guns he knows they have a lot of ammo for out there.
We also don't know how much ammo Bill had for each type of gun he had.

I could see Joel thinking about going back to Bill's fortress after his pilgrimage and in later seasons they get back, but raiders have destroyed it and picked it clean.

I wouldn't care about the gay stuff if it wasn't the entire 80 minutes

Bill made his own ammo I'm pretty sure. And I'm assuming he made quite a fricking lot
shite, I have a couple buddies that make their own ammo for fun

I would assume whatever passes for "the government" still has aircraft.
Pretty sure we saw or heard at least one helicopter when they were still back in the Boston QZ. I'm assuming that was the FEDs flying it.

Well and depending on the ammo, it can get heavy. Someone made a good point that he may only take what they could feasibly carry if the truck breaks down.

I bet he'd just bury/hide it near where the car breaks down and packed it full.
At least that's what I'd do. I'd even potentially leave strategic small stashes along the journey with the excess.

Ughhh. Why does this have to be every damn show I watch? Good grief.
What’s worse is that every time there is a gay character in anything we get this reaction.
Look, I normally agree with people who complain about woke agendas being pushed into movies/tv, but I don’t see this as that.
Gay people do exist. It’s not an affront to all straight males any time they are portrayed…
Bill was lonely, never had any gay interactions in his life before Frank showed up. Maybe he was previously gay, maybe he wasn’t. I don’t think it took away from the story or added to it. It was just the story

And of course you are 100% correct.
Bill was a bad arse and had very possibly carved out the best existence on the planet for himself at that point.
It sucks he’s dead.

It’s gay dick in arse sex for no reason.
They literally never showed this, or even implied it.
Is there some projection going on for you here or what?

I got the impression that he was likely closeted (he mentioned the Linda Rondstadt love song he played on the piano wasn't about a girl) or had an interaction that wasn't sexual.

Or the biggest indicator: he knew what sort of wine paired with rabbit

Yeah, I think he probably was or at least had some curiosity and when you get to the end of the world and can go months or longer without seeing another face I think he said frick it at that point.

Or that he lived alone with his Mom until her death.
I have a very gay cousin that is a sommelier, lives with his Mom (now taking care of her), and likes Linda Rondstadt.
It hit some solid stereotypes.

Frank had some disdain for 80’s music
He said “80’s means trouble, obviously”, when he was first laying out the code to Tess.

Say what? Are you suggesting that sex wasn't even implied?
He told him to take a shower.
He grabbed his towel and got him naked.
They were in bed together.
He asked him if he had ever done it before.
He laid on top of Bill naked.
They then kissed.
They started kissing and almost went prone on top of the strawberries.
Saying that nothing sexual was implied is almost as stupid as MLS detailing anal seepage and adult diapers.

That was great.
Also thought it was a nice touch to find out how the code was created. And a nice tie back into the end of the previous episode where we end it with the 80s music playing on the radio (trouble).
Curious if others also know about that code that are at the Boston QZ (or even other QZs) and if they will respond because the code indicated trouble was played.
