Surprised at how many posters here are now just catching on to this show. It really is a great show. I still need to check out the Cornwell books it's based off of.

I dislike how he treated his first wife. I really do. They had chemistry but he's all up in arms. He could have played it smart about Obba fricking him over but nope, he decided to challenge the King's Authority.

Glad someone else brought this up. Only watched through episode 6, but he really fricked up a good thing. Also, as you hinted, if he would have waited until after that church service, and threw that EXACT same hissy fit, he would have been fine.
I understand not giving a frick about the king/authority, but don't go and deliberately frick things up for your own self .

I plan on watching it this weekend to try and quell my GoT withdrawals.

I actually found myself rooting for Aethelwold in the shield wall battle, but my favorite character not named Alfred ended up going out in a very anti-climatic way.

Oh and the priest is Professor Quirrel from Harry Potter.

Watched after seeing this thread. Amazing. Really emphasizes how slow GoT is

Very good show. I liked it a lot. Binged pretty much the whole season in like 2 days. About half of it in one sitting while the wife and kids were out and about.

I agree that Uthred does come across as something of a moron at times. But that doesn't really lessen my enjoyment of the show. Plus the guy had a pretty fricked up early life so I guess I can cut him some slack. Also he doesn't seem as physically imposing as he did in the books.

I like that they portray the good and bad from both sides. Maybe once this one is done they can follow it up with the series Cornwell did when it was the Saxon's invading the Britons. They did kind of give a shout out to the fact that the Saxon's were the invaders once.

On episode 2 right now and it is really good. Definitely a better version of Vikings, which I also like.

Uhtrid is the dumbest fricking protagonist I've ever had to deal with in a series. With that said, I enjoy it. Almost done with the series.

Uhtred is annoying with his damn temper but he's so damn nice to look at .

One character I hate is Brida .

And no mention of "BETTER THAN BARLEY!!!" in here??

Not a big Brida fan either. The Seer chick is my new favorite. Downer though about losing her powers if she has sex though...... I wonder how they determined that?

His stupidity is one of the main points of the series, civilized Saxons vs. savage Danes. It's his hot headed warrior nature that makes him great. He goes out and wins battles while most of the Saxons would prefer to pay protection money to the Vikings.

Agreed. Just rubs me the wrong way.

I liked it. I didn't find the characters quite as charismatic as the cast of Vikings ( on the whole). Alfred's a pretty good character though. Good show

We traded the Seer chick and Leofrik for an ugly nun and the random dude?

Anyone know when S2 premieres?? I read that it's being filmed right now.

Or if it'll premiere on BBC America before Netfkix gets it?

Can't find anything on it right now other than sometime in the Fall. Season 1 started in October so it maybe around that timeframe again?

Season 1 premiered on BBC America a week before it premiered in the UK on BBC Two so I would assume that it will come on BBC America again before it is available anywhere else.

I am Uhtred who killed Ubba by the sea!

The series may reinvigorate me to finish all the books. Cornwell owns historical fiction.
