The Last Jedi Plot Predictions (NO SPOILERS)

I posted a thread after watching TFA based on where I thought TLJ would be heading.

After seeing snippets of the trailers - been trying to avoid everything - I really think the Jaina/Jacen theme is going to emerge.
They are going to be enemies like in legacy of the force (EU), but in the end they will realize they are eternally bound together in some way and will start coming together.
I see the unifying force playing a role - perhaps under a different name. But Luke appears to have been awakened to the idea that what he learned about the force is an allusion - the lesson learned by Jacen Solo in the EU.

quote:
Even though the EU is no longer cannon it is very obvious JJ Abrams wanted to show respect to it. Episode 7 borrowed HEAVILY from the newer Legacy of the Force series.
Ren = Jacen Solo but renamed Ben Solo (so they merged Jacen and Ben Skywalker). In the books, the oldest son of Han turns to the dark side to be defeated in a light saber battle by his twin sister Jaina. It's also interesting that he loses an early light saber battle due to an injury.
Rey = Jaina Solo (but may be the daughter of Luke here essentially taking the place of Ben). This was pretty obvious.
Poe = kinda had the feel of Anakin Solo - greatest pilot in the galaxy with Han's swagger.
Chewey and Han: they "hinted" at Chewey's death when he was shot then flipped it and killed off Han.
The star killer was lifted straight from the EU. The Knights of Ren look to be lifted from the Knights of Revan.
Based on what I've seen going forward I believe they are going to explore two core concepts
1. The ancient sith/Jedi mythology and what it really means to be light and dark leading to the ultimate discovery
2. The unifying force - essentially what Jacen Solo mastered. He came to believe there was no light or dark but it was all the same...mastering all powers and eventually learning to walk through time.
IF Ren takes this route he is going to be BAD arse by episode 9.

That’s interesting and does seem the route they’re going. Is there a particular series of EU novels which contains all of this? I’ve never read the EU stuff because there is just so much and I figure different series probably contradict one another.

Would be more interesting if Rey ended up being the villain.

I think Rey will use both the light and dark side. I also don't think she has any relation to Luke.

Read the Legacy of the Force series

I’m suspecting they might flirt with that route. Luke flirted with it in Shadow of the Empire and Jaina flirted with it when she killed Jacen.
Kylo (a mix of Ben Skywalker and Jacen/Anakin Solo in the EU) may die tragically at the hands of Rey (a Jaina/Anakin Solo mix) as he returns to the light just before death and she gives into the dark side like in the books.

If Rey doesn’t lose her hand it’s not a real Star Wars movie.
