Watched the first two episodes of this HBO 4-parter (produced by the Duplass brothers), and it is really fascinating.

It explores the Dale, a 3-wheel car developed in the 70s gas crisis that would get 70 mpg. The lady behind it was quite bold and announced plans to put GM out of business. We know that didn't happen, but the story is a wild one.

It has interviews with some former employees who sound like they really believe they were just steps away from changing the world. There is also counterfeiting, murder, serial marriages, and even crazier stuff.

The Elio is a similar 3-wheel high-mileage concept that was to be built in Shreveport. Took deposits just like the Dale. I see now that there have been comparisons online, but I was not familiar with the Dale until now.

The show is, based on the first 2 episodes, well worth watching.

Reminds me of the Top Gear UK segment on the Reliant Robin:

I enjoyed the first 2 episodes. I love documentaries with a crime and crazy element.

OP might have skipped over the most glaring topic in the show...

The trans stuff doesn’t bother me, but I could’ve done without the twenty minute history lesson on being trans in the 60’s. The con man stuff was way more entertaining.

On purpose. I figured that would be a nice surprise for viewers.
