I saw this posted on another site and it really explains how dumb it was to kill him off.

quote:

What if in the new Avengers film, about half way through, Iron Man and Thanos meet for the first time and out the blue Iron Man just shoots him dead boom! First bit of Thanos action and dead. For the rest of the film main protogonist was his sidekick, who, although quite interesting, had previously posed zero threat and had actually already had his butt kicked on multiple occasions. I can imagine that going down a treat.

Almost perfect.

Really it’d be better to have Thanos be killed by Loki halfway through and we’re right back to the same story from the first movie.

To me it was the best part of tLJ what they did with Snoke. It was a stroke of utter genius to be honest.

The rest...not so much.

Who cares? Seriously?

Does anyone care who Snoke is now? He’s a throw away character with no back story or development. He was called the supreme leader. Of what, I don’t know. He could use the force. Really well? Don’t know that either. His only interaction was with two noobs. In the Jedi world, he may have been the equivilant to some lame Senior who hangs out with freshman in high school to make himself feel cool. But then again, we don’t know, so I don’t care.

Exactly. Everyone wanted him to be the next Palpatine. He was never some “big time Sith Lord”. He was just another dark side doofus and his little errand boy is about as powerful in the force as the worrt outside Jabas palace.

Rian Johnson treated TLJ like it was the end of the series. Even at that he did it horribly. There’s literally nothing to look forward to with Ep 9.

Johnson can’t tell a story with a character so he just kills them off to make it easier for him.

The way they handled Snoke was only viewed as poorly by fans because of the same way those fans hyped him up. He could have been a character they never planned to expand upon, rather he was just a pawn for their Kylo story arc. I’ve said it before, there’s quite a few things I didn’t like about the movie, but Snoke wasn’t one of them. He’s not that high on my list of intriguing characters.

Smoke should have just been a rich guy or a politician. No force powers. It would have made Kylo flipping on him better.

He really did. The end of 9 should have been Luke flying into the starships not Holdo. It basically destroyed every ship in site. That would have been the end. It felt like the "duel" on Crait should have came before the space battle.

Exactly. As a stand-alone movie, if you don’t worry about the Star Wars universe or what happened in TFA, it’s an entertaining movie. I bet casual Star Wars viewers enjoyed it fine.

I’m a casual Star Wars viewer and as a movie it failed to entertain.

We can agree to disagree on this. Kylo is a terrible villain. Hes more an anti-hero than a villain.

Go rewatch the original trilogy. How much more did we know about Palpatine than we know about Snoke?

Hey now, don't disrespect the worrt. He made the most of his limited screen time and was quite a bit more entertaining than 95% of tLJ.

They were called Episodes IV-VI, so we reasonably expected them to be answered in I-III.
