I hate it. It's a sappy love story revolved around a tragedy, where the female lead makes a series of retarded decisions that leads to her hubby dying and her living. Not to mention, she also throws an incredibly expensive piece of jewelry into the ocean for no reason.

It's a tour de force.

I always liked it. I'm sure all these people that "hate" it probably saw it 3 times in the movies.

I think it is fine as a movie. I don't think it is a classic like some seem to. I was a huge RMS Titanic nut when I was a kid (before the Cameron movie came out), and I always prefer A Night to Remember when it comes to a historical depiction of the wreck (even though it's not perfect on that side partly due to the wreck not having been discovered at that time). As far as Titanic, I like the cast. I don't mind the sappy love story angle because it was the 90's for crying out loud, and the historical thing had already been done on ANTR anyway. I have mixed feelings for sure, but not a bad movie at all.

It's a billion dollar movie involving the Titanic that has nothing to say about the sinking of the Titanic. It's sentimental and boring.
