I haven't seen this movie in well over ten years, I always remember it being really slow, long, convoluted, unable to understand Marlon Brando, and never really liked it and thus never rewatched it.

It popped up in my YouTube premium feed last night so I clicked on it, and so glad I did.

I guess being older and more mature, I appreciated it more, and having headphones and watching on a laptop a few inches from my face also made it a lot better. I could understand the dialog much better. A few parts still confuse me, but overall such a wonderful movie.

Al Pacino is such a boss. I'm probably going to end up watching Part II tonight, although it should probably be called Part III because Part I feels like two movies.

Things I'm still confused on- when the one guy peels out of the house before getting murdered at the toll booth. What the hell was that all about?

What was the deal with the lady destroying all her dishes?

Why was the blonde brother left out of the Nevada organization? That whole re-org, I didn't quite understand.

As amazing as Godfather is, two is better. You can skip 3. In fact if you watch 3, it may tarnish one and two for you. No shite, it's that bad.

Blonde guy is Tom Hagen. He's a lawyer.

I looked it up on Wikipedia. If I understand correctly, when Michael took over, Vito semi-retires to consiglier, which was Bagen's existing position, so he gets demoted to running the legitimate side of the family's business, despite the things he's involved with throughout the rest of the movie.

Did you even watch the movie? What is there to be confused about here?

Isn't there a version of Godfather 2 or 3 that has the revenge of Fabrizio and the introduction of a younger Hyman Roth? I could have sworn I saw it on TV a few years ago.. Anyone know?

I know that the scene when they are opening up the Genco oil company the younger version of Hymen Roth is in the scene but it is not explained in that scene.

They are deleted scenes. There is a Corleone Saga that is a chronological cut of 1&2 and puts the deleted scenes back in the movie. I think the deleted scenes are available by themselves and probably on YouTube.

the one guy

You mean Sonny Corleone? First born son to The Don? Heir to “The Family Business?”

That “one guy?”

Why did he peel out for no reason to go get himself murdered. Looked like blondie tried to stop him.

Carlo, his brother in law was beating his sister. She called and Sonny answered and went after Carlo. It was a setup.

Next time I’d suggest watching the movie with volume

Has anyone here watched Godfather Coda? Haven’t seen it personally but heard it had a similar effect as the BvS and Justice League directors cuts in that it made GF3 into a somewhat watchable and coherent movie

OK this makes more sense. I saw the scene where the lady is smashing all her own dishes because her husband was being a dick, next thing I know Sonny is peeling out of the driveway on his way to murdertown. The movie didn't piece that together too well for me.

I wonder why they didn't show the murder of Bruno Tattaglia? That was a big part of why Sonny was killed...
