The dude abides

I don’t mind the Stella commercials for the most part. Sex in the City. The duderino strolling in. Fine. Whatever.
But it hurts my soul a little bit (or it would if I had one) when he says, gratuitously and really kind of out of place, “the dude abides.”
I don’t blame the actor. Maybe not even the company. But why?

A line in a commercial from a movie "hurts your soul a little bit"?

Kind of, yeah. I love the move and and have a fondness in my heart for the character. For some reason, I don’t feel like the commercial itself cheapens either. I’m fine with it. But the use of the line is bothersome. It is completely gratuitous in the context of the commercial and doesn’t really make sense in the dialogue. I don’t get it.
Disclaimer: I don’t believe in the existence of the soul so it is just a turn of phrase.
