The first two seasons of the crown was accused as love letter royal propaganda of sorts for Queen Elizabeth.

Well, seasons 3-4, especially the 4th season put the kibosh on that notion where it displayed the royal family as cold hearted, out of touch and aloof. The best example of that is the Queen's talking about leaving her kids to go abroad on a royal tour for several months and not considering what kind of effect that not having their parents around would have on the kids.

But all in all, it's a damn fine show and the cinematagorphy and set design and locations is just incredible and beautifully shot and what I love most about the show.

Is it supposed to be a true life retelling of Elizabeth and real family events?

Yes. It's a biopic.

Great series. Foy won a well deserved EMMY for her performance, though she subsequently had to fight for a higher, promised salary post first season. She was not the highest paid performer & she was by far the main performer. Historically informative & am looking forward to more insider takes on Lyndon. At least through the first half of season 3 he comes across as the crude politician /person he was in real life.
