Tony ran off or killed anyone remotely worth while besides Sil. By the end of the show he is left with a bunch of clowns
It’s always amazed me just how feeble his “armed” resources were at the very end. Just him and a handful of old guys hiding out with some pistols and one AR. Just me and a few of my suburban neighbors have way more firepower than that.

Yeah, but traditionally wise guys didn't usually carry guns on the street as they were always getting jammed up. They would stash them and they only used them when an order came down or if there was a big beef. But after the wild late 70s and 80s, I'd expect them to be carrying a lot but from rats from more recent times, they even talk about not carrying to meetings or planning accordingly depending on the situation.
The show didn't have time, nor need to explore this, but it is always implied that there are more crews and definitely more soldiers in the family under Tony, like all those guys around Jr. in the beginning, but for the show (where we just see Tony and high level guys) you are correct. He basically killed or expelled every capable person around him and in the end was left with Patsy and Paulie (both of which could have potentially set him up).

Hard to believe the leaking rumors.
The actor who played Furio was on Talking Sopranos and seemingly gets along great with those he worked with at the time. I would think Imperioli and Schrippa wouldn’t have had him on if there was a sore spot with David Chase.
For example, Joey Pants is basically persona non grata on that podcast due to some past beefs.

Yeah, I didn't really buy the rumors but that is what I read a few places as the rumor. Joey Pants had a falling out with David Chase bc on a promo poster and cover they had characters standing together and one is holding his severed head and his young kids saw it and freaked out and they never asked him about doing that before hand and I think him and DC were at odds over it. But it is hard to imagine something like that being that big of a deal all these years later.
The Vito character (who was a chef in Nola at Commanders supposedly at one point), I don't think anyone liked because he did all the interviews after James Gandolfini passed talking about how close they were and it was all bullshite, so the rest were like wtf.

Totally spaced on that one.

Finn is an entirely normal guy who can function in the real world. I can’t imagine a girl who looks like Meadow would go for a guy like Finn, but he is certainly not a dipshit. He managed to get out of a relationship with a mob boss’s daughter unscathed, even with a soda and any kind of sandwich he’d like

Kinda glad to hear that because I really didn't want to like that actor. The way Furio disappeared sucked but during the blowout fight between Tony and Carm when she admitted she'd been fantasizing about Furio I legit thought he was gonna beat her to death. That had to be a hell of a scene to just be on set and watch

Some of the Tony-Carm argument scenes featured incredible acting.

I think there are interviews with both, and others that were there, about those scenes and how powerful they were and scary and just how nuts they were to see happen in real time.

From what I've seen in interviews and from what I've read James and Edie were close enough friends that they were able to push it farther than a couple of random actors on a movie shoot or another TV show. I think James could get pretty scary anyway I've seen some of the others talk about him punching a hole in the wall or knocking a dent in the Escalade to get fired up for scenes.
There's one clip of the Christophaa "you may not love me but you will respect me" scene where after the first take James didn't think he gave enough, and after cut he's pissed off and yelling at himself, all while poor Michael Imperioli is still standing there pinned against the wall

That is basically what I have seen/read about it. I saw an interview where Edie Falco would say in a way it felt like she was married to James and would have to remind herself when he'd be with his wife, like "we aren't really married, its a show." Talk about getting into the role lol. There are some funny outtakes and stories about Gandolfini doing stuff like that, there's one where they were filming a scene that was for the summer pool birthday party but it was winter and he got in the escalade to sit in the heat and fell asleep in his bathrobe with his foot on the gas and they finally had to come wake him up because the engine was fully revved for a long time lol.
