The real unanswered question about Jackie Aprile, Jr is did he have the makings of a varsity athlete.

Yep. He was All-State.

Reddit discussed the gun. It’s a truly fake prop gun which doesn’t fire a real round. Which we figured just by looking at the scene…but if you’re going to have a close up of the gun, and esp if the victim is not even in the frame, why not use a real gun that doesn’t look like a prop? some sort of style choice?

Every guy Meadow got involved with was cringe as frick, except for Patsy’s kid. And we didn’t really see much of him.

No kidding. I have always wondered if that is supposed to be the world's first prototype Glock, a hi tech, or a fricking time travel edition of a "3d printer gun." It was so bad.

The famous "Yankees fans" gif always reminded me of Jackie Jr.

Please tell me that's the kid who stole the ball away from Tony Tarasco in the 96 ALCS as an adult.

If they didn't kill Sunshine (the card dealer) and wound Furio, they maybe could've gotten off light.

Sunshine didn't matter. It was shooting at and wounding made men that did them in. Well Dino would have been killed anyway. Jackie would have gotten a "talking to".

The Furio scene where he beats the shite out of the couple who own the massage parlor is one of the most underrated mob violence scenes ever.

I always hated how they just kind of uneventfully shipped Furio away. He was one of the best characters to me. It wasn't believable to me that he would fall for Carm and risk everything.

"Funny, funny how?" "Do I amuse you?" Done in my best Joe Pesci voice.....

Ha.

I’d rephrase, he started off funny. Maybe some of the funniest moments in an otherwise pretty dark show (on like my 5th rewatch now, last night was “Long Term Parking” geesh). But after a while I was happy to see him get capped.

It was a good twist by Chase because at first he and Meadow looked like a great but too cliched match. But her ending up with a guy with links to the mafia (trying to get in) could have been an interesting storyline.

Agree 100%. He was a good character and a good soldier for Tony. Esp since at times it seemed Tony had very few soldiers to do things like beat up Asian whorehouse owners. And yeah, Carm falling for him was fine but him having any interest in her was just stupid. He wanting Meadow would have been more believable.

I believe the common rumor is that he was quickly written off the show because he was leaking story lines

Clearly something happened because they built up a season long arch and then just kind of ended without a real conclusion. Although I enjoy the references to him hiding in Italy later in the show

I went for a google. This is what I’m finding. Also, was mentioned a couple times that they were needing to cut salaries because they added Frank Vincent and Steve Buscemi.

This may have been true, but in a show about mobsters, you always have the option of killing them off in a very direct way so it feels like more than that to just have a character just written out the show without much thought to it or build up.

She does end up with someone with links to the family (son and nephew of the Parisi twins). Even though Meadow and Little Parisi are out of the mob, you can see how Tony's death and Patsy moving up in the family might entice the young couple into being the next generation of the crime family.

Tony ran off or killed anyone remotely worth while besides Sil. By the end of the show he is left with a bunch of clowns

Supposedly he was selling scripts of the show, or script secrets. IDK if that is true or not, but that is the rumor as to why he was cut out so quick. Had Tony had guys left around him at the end, like Furio or even Chrissy, he might have been better off.

Kind of align with the real mafia. Once everybody started ratting, selling narcotics, and they whacked a bunch of bosses in the 80’s and 90’s, it’s been a steady regression to what is it now.
