I couldnt believe it. Also, no way Cobb is dead. But I don't think he's going to be battling it out. Luke is definitely bringing Grogu back at the end of the fight to turn the tide.
I'm not really sure how I feel about Grogu going back to Mando. To me, it screams they're scared to do the show without him and are afraid Mando can't stand on his own. I'm actually kind of disappointed. Once Mando has Grogu back, what's the point? He isn't going to give a shite about being a Mando or anything else once he has him back.

Who knows, even if he choses Mando/armor, they may be heading towards a storyline of Grogu becoming a Mandolorian Jedi like the darksaber creator, Tarre Vizsla.

I trust them as well. I love Grogu but Mando needs time to shine on his own. I feel like this doesn't grow Grogu nor Mando's character arcs at all.
This feels like one of those "one step forward, two steps back" for Mando both for his show and character. Letting go of Grogu was an integral part of Din's journey. I would have thought Filoni and Favreau would recognize that since they wrote it but I guess the Mouse put in a direct order to bring Grogu back to make that $$$$

Speaking of $$$$, this may open up the real possibility of Luke regularly showing up in Mando S3 and/or Ahsoka's series (which I'm convinced now Thrawn will be a central figure, if Filoni continues turning his creations, like Ahsoka/Bane, into live-action characters).

Grogu choosing the armor would keep Ben Solo as Luke's first student in canon. Technically Leia was his first but didn't keep it up.
Also with Cade Bane showing up as the big bad can we guess any chance of Qira, Crimson Dawn and Black Sun popping up are gone?

I think in some ways it is tough but F&F haven't done any serious dipping into retroactive continuity. Somehow Grogu has to be separated from Luke within ~30 years or there is serious retconning even setting aside Ben Solo being his first student, though that might be worked around in some pedantic way.
My wife just woke up and I was literally bouncing around and she said OK spoil it you bastard, so I did. She made a good point that Yoda's lightsaber is retconning the comics because Mas Amedda destroyed it.
With everything going on I forgot Jennifer Beal is no more and the jizz band is gone too.

I’m sure Disney might be ok with retconning some small things like Grogu learning under Luke before Ben. Hell I didn’t even know Ben was his first student.
I’m not anti Grogu. In fact, I do want him back with Mando eventually but I’d like a season without him just to give Din some growing to do as a character. I really really enjoyed Episode 5 with him being solo. Like maybe one of my favorite Star Wars medias since the OG trilogy. I just want more of that. I think it benefits the show and Din’s character.
Grogu can come back in Season 4 or something. Just give it some time.
