It's eminently iconic. It's like Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It's flaws are immaterial to the uniqueness and overall greatness of the work. It's chock full of comedy gold. It's a fricking Comstock Lode of comedy!

I suppose "Some Like it Hot" is overrated too, since neither Lemmon nor Curtis are believable as cross-dressing women, Marilyn Monroe is a dismal actress, the plot is hokey as hell, the mobsters are buffoonish caricatures, and it lagged in some places, etc, etc. Guess what, it was damned funny, and is considered a classic, just like The Big Lebowski.

We just like the movie. We didn't rent it shoes, we're not buying it a fricking beer.

I tend to do that a lot. It's not intentional, I'm just overbearing. My wife's least favorite of my shortcomings!

I'm not even calling it flawed. I think it's clever, maybe even moreso than most people give it credit before, on top of being funny.

I dunno. Maybe I've been deadened by the quote-fests that happen when it's name gets mentioned. Like that 3 month period where people ran Napoleon Dynamite into the ground, except for with TBL it's been happening for 13 years.

The Big Lebowski is not even the funniest Coen brothers movie. Raising Arizona is.

Yeah that one is my favorite as well. I need to watch Barton Fink again, but I remember it being as funny as it was dark. A Serious Man was pretty damn funny too. I saw that recently and liked it a lot.

I saw this movie for the first time a few months ago. Within 30 minutes I found everything that Bridges and Goodman said or did to be hilarious.

I understand why a lot of people wouldn't find this movie as awesome as I do. It just doesn't have that hilarity like American Pie or Hangover.
