This movie is really good but catches a bad rap for some reason.

It's awesome in its own way, but I always come away from it disappointed because I feel that they could have done more with it.

Terrible movie. Was not "really good" nor "good". It was bad.
Now "Dragonslayer" on the other hand...

It's a fun popcorn flick.
But I always have two issues:
1. You're telling me the world's military couldn't deal with the dragons? Even if it was the special hour, the dragon had a tough time catching skydivers and a helicopter. Our fighter jets would have mopped the floor with them.
2. It takes a Midwestern Yankee to figure out that there's only one male responsible for the entire race's reproductive necessities? Even though that one male is like 10 times bigger than any of the other dragons?

That's why The Matrix and Terminator are borderline laughable. Even if you launched all nukes and killed 2 billion people, you still have 5 billion more to deal with.
Honestly though, the dragon's scorching the Earth didn't really take me as completely out of the question. Maybe they just popped up and before anyone knew what was going on there were thousands of them. And if they scorch everything they see, food, gas and the like would become scarce really quick. Once you break down basic infrastructure and govt., you are left with a bunch of resistance pockets.

Bale was such a pussy in this movie.

He did get his arse whipped. I thik he is the only reason this movie has become some what of a cult classic. I think if you replace him with Collin Ferrel or some other British actor it fades into oblivion.

he had to be to survive and protect his people. you would be too if you had lived through so many failed attempts to fight back against the dragons. i don't think a psycho yankee in a tech vest would have inspired me very much either. plus he was right the first time. they did come back and ruin their kick arse castle.

Anybody remember Dragonheart? I liked it when I was a kid but haven't seen it since then. Came out in the mid-90's. Sean Connery voices a dragon, what else do you need to know?

It was awful. That's what I remember.

I remember a redheaded bastard king with half a dragon heart which gets Sean Connery killed, but I enjoyed it. Hell, I was like 9 years old.

I fricking LOVED this movie. Actually saw it in theaters. I sometimes post about it in the "movies you like but people haven't seen" threads because most people I know have never even heard of it, let alone seen it.
I saw it in theaters too... Got in on DVD actually. Might have to dust the old case off & watch it
