The property seems listless right now. Rey’s movie will bomb. That poor actress seems like such a sweet girl it’s sad they’ve put her in this position. Mando, I know you guys like it but does it have theatrical power? Can it threaten a billion dollars, because the budget will be through the roof so it’ll have to. What else do they have in universe to kick start the IP? You two like Acolyte bit be honest, at 14% and not even charting on the Neilson ratings you can’t make that into a movie, even an S2 would be a zombie. People are starting to fear they’ve backed themselves into a corner where they’ll have to remake the OT and that maybe suicide for real this time.

If I was running it:

X-Wing Show/Movie done by the top gun Director.

Have them chasing down some rogue Tie Fighter Pilots. Make one of them the Red Baron of Tie Fighters.

Remind people there are other cool things in Star Wars besides Jedi.

They tried to get the Wonder Woman director to make it until she screwed up WW1984. It was called Rogue Squadron and it’s been canceled as many times as the KOTOR remake.

Make the villain a rogue Tie Fighter Ace just blowing up New Republic Ships.

give it an enemy at the gate/hunt for red october angle. Hire a sinister easter European to play him, like Fassbender. Fill it with Awesome space fights.

my other idea would be a Finn Spin Off.

He finds out there are still some splinter cells of the First Order out there and he has to liberate a Stromtrooper conditioning camp. We get to see some flashbacks of what his life was like and how he ended up being able to break lose. He saves kids from becoming stromtroopers in the end.

Something we SHOULD have gotten in the ST.

ETA: I see others have already mention Patty Jenkins Rogue Squadron movie.

So about something like this? Tie Fighter. Grizzled veteran, hot shot young pilot, chick bomber, drawn as an 80s style anime. I think people would eat this up.



Original Post: Patty Jenkins was supposed to make a Rogue Squadron movie, which would have been similar to what you said. Its been put in the shitter though. Most speculate because Wonder Woman 1984 did so poorly.
