It's a shame that Nebraska went home empty. It was incredible. Also, Wolf and Hustle going home empty. Who would have thought that in December?

Mud was fantastic.

Best movie I've seen in a couple of years.

I think he's had a couple performances where he might have won in a weak year. But he seems to keep getting nominated in a year where there's a clear cut front runner that knocked it out of the park.

I liked Mud, but I don't know if it belonged with those others.

There was no better scene in any movie this year (save for a few in Man of Steel - like you didn't know that was coming!) than the "Ludes" scene in WOWS. Hell there were two amazing Ludes scenes now that I think about it.

Yeah, opening week it looked like both Leo and Jonah Hill were locks, unless Jonah got upset by MM's more or less cameo appearance.

I guess some of the older voters got squeamish about rewarding a movie that veered towards Skinemax movie at times.

Maybe some of the older voters have seen more movies and just have more mature and better tastes.

The major awards pretty much got it right tonight.

The Oscars are a lot like the Big 10: really slow and Nebraska's not winning anything.

You should submit that to the production company so next year's host can use that as the opening line.

Well, I think we have enough Oscar history to know better than to rely on any voters "mature and better tastes"

Right, Saving Private Ryan?

However,...

...fair enough.

I'm just glad The Butler ended getting shut out from Oscar nominations

I really think that JLaw is kind of glad that she didn't win for American Hustle

Mud was great. One of my favorites. Essentially Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn retold, and I can appreciate that since I grew up 10 miles from Mark Twain's home near Hannibal, MO.

However, it wasn't as good as 12 Years a Slave. It wouldn't have won best picture.

Perhaps y'all are a bit bias toward the film because of where it was shot?
