Do you think that there are any serial killers out there right now who have not been caught?
Absolutely. I think the estimate is that at any one time, there are about 50 ACTIVE serial killers in the U.S. at any moment. Most of them are never caught. It sounds like a lot, but you have to remember that the Baton Rouge area had at least three CAUGHT in the last 20 years or so. Derrick Todd Lee, the guy that was whacking people up in the Felicianas a year or two ago, and the guy last week that killed 5 people at 2 separate places. That's just off the top of my head.
It's very difficult for police to solve random murders where the victim has no apparent connection to their killer unless the killer makes a mistake and leaves them something to work with that can lead back to them. Remember the D.C. snipers and how long it took to catch them? Who do the police even start looking for when someone drops dead from a rifle shot at a gas station? Those guys likely wouldn't have gotten caught if they'd just switched up their cars. They were arrested sleeping in the car they'd modified to allow one of them to shoot through a hole in the trunk.

Growing up in the Information Age to me it was amazing that Florida had Bundy for that long and didn’t know who he actually was

while Bundy may go down as one of this country’s most notorious serial killers, it’s primarily due to the lack technology and cross-state communication between police departments. No way he gets away with half of it nowadays.
I agree. He might've gotten away with the first 2-3 but he was so reckless that with all of today's technology it would've been super easy to catch him. I mean shite early on they had his first name and the car he was driving but had no way to quickly search a database.
Although I did think it was weird that 8 people from the beach failed to positively ID him.

Bundy was so impulsive and out of control. He was a smart guy when he wasn't acting on his violent urges, but lost all intelligence in the heat of the moment.
There are stories about him just flipping a switch during conversations and interviews where his eyes turn black and evil just sets in. Makes me think about Ed Norton in Primal Fear when his "other personality" would click on (not gonna spoil that one).
I'm pretty enamored with serial killers and their psychology and crimes, so this Bundy docuseries didn't reveal anything I didn't already know, but it was still a very interesting watch.
And I agree, he would've totally been caught after the first 2-3 murders in 2019.
My favorite part of the docuseries that I hadn't seen before was when he was making the first responding officer repeat his account of how he found the bodies in the Chi-O house. You could tell Bundy was getting off on hearing the detailed descriptions from someone else. The judge had to actually tell him to move on.

crazy how a dude's lust for blood causes him to bust into a sorority home and bash a few skulls in just to get a fix.

He was on the FBIs most wanted list at that time too, true incompetence that they couldn’t figure out who he was

The first time they let him escape or the second?
Posted on 1/30/19 at 1:47 pm to wildtigercat93
well the second because that one resulted in deaths.

I felt like that whole part of the story could’ve been told with 3 stooges music playing in the back

I've seen a few that went into a lot more detail about the murders than the Bundy Tapes. For example, ID channel did a tv movie a couple of years ago about him and the investigation and they went into detail about what he did to those girls in the Northwest. The acting was cheesy as hell but the details of his killings was really disturbing. What he did to those girls after he killed them was morbidly disgusting and evil.

Yeah but that one he legit broke out of jail. The first one they just weren't monitoring him at all in an unsecured courthouse library
Like, wtf?

Yeah, it was. They didn’t go into great detail about what he actually did to the victims. I’ve read multiple articles about him be- heading them, and the sexual acts. It would not stop there, he would go back to where he dumped the bodies and continue sexually abusing them. Disgusting!
