I think it was tulanetiger that said his theatre was openly mocking it. When it ended where I was watching it half the theatre clapped.
Are you from BR? Which theater were you at? I was at the midnight release and pretty sure i wasnt the only one laughing during it

if you don't think teen girls wearing skimpy clothing and trying to be hot was a major selling point of this movie, then i don't think you're being honest
if u read what i wrote i had no clue what the movie was about going in..hell i hadnt even seen the poster. the girls were bad-asses fighting monsters and zombie germans. skimpy dresses? sure..but isn't that every movie?
and i must have missed where they were all supposed to be underaged..clearly the star was portraying that..but the other girls looked like 20-something women. i did miss the first 5 minutes or so because i was late so not sure if they made more out of the girls being supposedly underaged. clearly the actresses themselves are in their mid to late 20s and i never got the impression they were supposed be 15-year olds flying jets and controlling robots.
eta and the sex was implied..they kept saying the girls would be required to entertain the high roller when he came..but aside from the fat cook trying to attack one of the girls, the film was mainly just violence. the closest thing to a 'sex' scene was the asian girl sitting on the mayor's lap and she didn't even kiss him.

they are clearly portraying younger women. The whole virgin commentary, the sister telling Sweat Pea to escape and go home to their mother.

yes but hot sexy young girls is clearly what they are trying to sell.

FWIW the baby doll character was supposed to be 20. The evil step father wrote her age on her admission paper work

A few things about this movie that bothered me:
SPOILERS
1. Why the frick didn't the Baby Doll character say anything to the female doctor or "the higher roller" (which was ridiculous and one of the things that made me lol the first time she said it) about the orderly's lobotomy plan? Neither of them thought that she needed to be lobotomized.
2. The dancing thing was fricking stupid.
3. Who the frick was the bus driver? God? An Angel? Him showing up outside of her day dreams made absolutely no sense

quote:yeah but 'army of me' providing the soundtrack as they jumped into the fight with the giant japanese samari warriors was pretty dang cool..but like you pointed out..could have just been a music video.

The high roller was the nick name they were using for John Hamm, the doctor who was coming to perform the lobotomy

Damn. I guess I'll just have to rely on you to let me know when pedophilia is in the mind of a producer or director.

Why would that be the case when the youngest girl of the whole group was stated as being 20?

Haven't seen the movie.

So you don't trust the guys that have seen the movie that say that was not the case?
I mean sure sex appeal was a draw of the movie but pedophilia is a but of a stretch I think

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't think pedophilia was part of the movie. I'm just giving CAD a hard time because he thinks Hollywood markets it.

creating cool/eye pleasing images doesn't make you a visionary.

So if I don't watch this movie in Imax am I wasting money? How about if I watch it in 2D and not 3D?
What is the line where there is no merit/fun factor to seeing the film?

Why would the doctor listen to Baby Doll if the papers were signed? I also don't think the female doctor could have done anything to prevent it. Her signature got forged, so she probably didn't think anything bad was going to happen.

It was the segway to the best parts of the movie. You don't actually see her dance anyway.

Guardian Angel I would assume since they were talked about at the beginning of the movie.

This movie is career suicide
The guy who was given the keys to DC's biggest intellectual property will no longer have a career because some random snobby a-hole didn't enjoy this movie?
I use to think Armond White was the dick, but frick me sideways he is starting to look like the sane critic. Hell Sucker Punch made a dream within a dream far more interesting and appealing than Inception did. They also threw in some hot arse broads to boot.

Are u kidding me??
Look at that picture, the girls have pigtails and lollipops! If you've seen the movie you know about the comments about virginity, and getting home to see your parents.
I've got no problem with the it, but it's clear that the movie is portraying these girls as younger than the actress ages.
Just bc the girls in Glee are really in there 20's doesn't mean the show isn't portraying them as high schoolers, and Sucker Punch is doing the same thing
