if you want to see harsh, go read the Massawyrm AICN review of this movie. i don't typically read them, but my rooommate told me to do it
here is the closing

This movie is career suicide. Zack Snyder is still one of the most visually arresting filmmakers out there, but no one in a million years is ever going to give him carte blanche again. The film is an embarrassment, a black eye on entertainment that will become the unwilling example of what happens when geeks are allowed to do whatever they want without supervision. It is a film I wish I had seen at home, if only so I could yell at the screen all the obscenities that sprung to mind as I endured minute after ridiculous minute. I’ve never walked out of a movie – but this one really tried my patience. I beat it, but I don’t feel that I in any way won.

That dude's really going to look like a dumbass if Sucker Punch makes bank because that's all that matters.

Not to me, and that's what counts as far as I'm concerned.

The movie was mindless fun. The movie may not have been as epic as I wished it was, but those action scenes in IMAX were every bit of the word epic. Some of the best action scenes ever put in a movie IMO.

I also have a feeling Snyder had to cut out a lot of scenes he really wanted to be in there for the PG-13 rating. I'm sure when it hits on Blu/DVD that there will be an hour longer Director's Cut like Watchmen.

Not sure what your point is. That critic predicted Snyders career would be effected greatly in a negative way based on said critics opinion.
If the movie meets or exceeds the gross sales expectations, that critic will be wrong. That's a fact.
You might like that critic or agree with him but that won't stop him from being dead wrong if the movie is financially successful.
Btw, I'm not a Snyder fanboy or a critic basher. Just pointing out that the critic could very likely be eating those words by Monday.

I'm going to name drop hecause what you just said is very appropriate:
M. Night Shyamalan.(sp?)

I'm not sure what you mean by bank but that Wimpy Kids movie is going to do significantly better this weekend than Sucker Punch.

Perhaps, but it won't mean he's wrong about the movie being a piece of shite. Plenty of pieces of shite have made major bucks. There's no accounting for the taste of the American moviegoing public sometimes.

He is already wrong on this

Like I said, it was definitely a movie that I'm sure fulfilled a lot of nerds fantasies. It wouldn't be going out on a limb to say Zack Snyder isn't the only geek making movies. So that was a dumb insult to begin with.

What was this guy expecting?? It was a fantasy movie for gods sake. He wanted it to be real? The enemies were 20 ft tall samurai and zombie Germans. Cmon dude.

Never said anything about that. He very well might be right. I don't know his taste in movies so I don't care about that really.

I wanna call you a snooty douche for saying this but I feel the same way everytime I read that someone liked Grownups.

If Sucker Punch meets or exceeds the studio estimates in ticket sales, Snyder's career won't be hurting at all. That's all my point was.
I forgot about Wimpy Kid coming out this weekend. I still think Sucker Punch wins out though.

Things change and it could be wrong but Box Office Mojo has $82 million for sucker punchs production budget and based on yesterday's # it will barely break $20 million this weekend

If true . . . oops. This type of movie needs to do very, very well opening weekend. If not, it's in trouble.

I'm really not, but a lot of shitty movies make money.

I don't know what the studio expectations were though but ith the bad reviews it kinda has to have a blowout first weekend to at least make up the budget so 20 million probably isn't good.
Either way, Supermans going to be the big career boost or drop for Snyder. Not Sucker Punch.

Could very well be. I didn't even think about him being involved in Superman.
By the way, how many Superman movies can they make?

VOR and SFP..i kinda hope y'all are kidding or just being complete trolls. are u really bashing a movie you haven't seen because of some douchebag critics with a stick up their asses?
i mean who would want to see a h0t asian chick attacking orcs who are launching themselvs out of a catapult at her WW2 british bomber plane while 3 hot chicks in stilletos with samauri swords and M4s attack a castle filled with monsters?
oh and btw the tailgunner is also nailing a firebreathing dragon who happens to be chasing the plane with a 50 cal.
yep this movie must seriously suck and i'm sure zach will never live to direct another movie after this ends up next to gigli in the annals of shitty movies. who wants to see dumb shite like that when you have THE KINGS SPEECH to sate your snot-arse critics?

How old are you?
Cause you have to be pretty immature to think this movie was better than Kings Speech.
I can't believe Don Draper agreed to be in this shitty movie. He must have been trying to suck to Snyder to score the Superman role

i'm saying its fun. i'm not cmparing it to some high-brow serious drama. i can enjoy both. apparently the critics with a stick-up-their-arse cannot.
oh btw, i'm 44 and my 13 year old son was mesmerized. thats kinda all that matters. it was fun, period.
i mean compared to that shitty where the wild things are that was hailed by critics as 'the tortured mind of jonez childhood' i lost all respect for critics. my 2 kids and i walked out halfway throug WTWTA. critics can suck my nutsack. i went to be entertained and i was.
thoroughly.
