If that trailer is any indication, I have a feeling this season is going to end on a similar note as Empire Strikes Back or even Infinity War. The Hawkins crew will lose, El will fail, and they will be scattered and defeated by the end of episode 9.
Season 5 is Return of the Jedi / End Game where everyone comes together for one final mission.
Likely deaths by the end of season 4:
- Enzo
- Murray
- Eddie
Possible deaths by the end of season 4:
- Steve (Robin's comments about the bites seemed like foreshadowing)
- Max (Vecna's not letting her go that easily)
I think that everyone else is safe for this season. For season 5 all bets are off, though.

I’m thinking we may see several characters die or somehow get stuck in the upside down world. Vecna may win. I think it’s going to be brutal and bad (not a happy ending).
And the duffer brothers have said it will be 2 years before season 5 comes out.
