One criticism I haven't seen yet is Mike's cringy I love you speech. I have a hard time believing any 14 year old couple who professes this undying love for each other.

Saw a thread where apparently Metallica first played it live in December of that year, and that bootleg live recordings were a big deal at that time in the metal community. Eddie seems like the type of person who would acquire such bootlegs

I don't think it reaches even camp level. Definitely not even close to John Hughes' movies.
I was a senior in HS in 1986. I don't really feel that this show captured the look or feel or atmosphere of that time.

Not really. Her age is late 30s in 83 and Henry Creel was born in 1947. Alice Creel was born in 1944 and we only see her lying on the floor like he was.

do they ever really say the name of the song? Maybe it's just Eddie wailing on the guitar for "the most metal thing ever"?
