I thought this season was just as good as season 1. I never had that "holy shite, tear-jerker" moment. (Like 11 last season when she sacrifices herself) but all in all it was terrific. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed binge watching a show that much. The overall look of the show, how they are so good at portraying the 80s, all the small miss-able details, the imagery and foreshadowing are all amazing!

The detail in this show is absolutely impeccable.
They get it almost all right.

SJWs have replaced millennials as societal boogeyman. Yeah SJWs suck, but they aren’t behind everything. White girl getting back at racist over protective dad by dating a black guy or foreigner was a pretty common story line before there were SJWs to appease.

I wonder if they would entertain the idea of steering away from the "monster" theme for a season. Maybe focus on Brenner's experiments and who and where are the other kids that were taken.

I think they could go away from the monsters next season but that monster controlling everything is making a return before the series ends. I also think it was interesting that El and her sister have different abilities. El is on a different power level than her sister. El was able to find her sister with just an old picture when she was a kid. I think that monster will eventually cross over and control residents of Hawkins.

I liked it as much as the first season. I think season 1 gets a little extra love because it was so unexpected. They didn't have that benefit this time and they still delivered on every level. My only complaint, and it sounds like a common one, is that ep 7 seemed a little out of pace with the rest of the season.

The episode where El joins up with these losers in Chicago is by far and away the worst episode of the entire show. This episode doesn’t even feel like Stranger Things.
This show is about the boys and Hawkins, they make the show special. All of these clowns in the Chicago gang need to get skullfricked by some demagorgans.

After reading about it I skipped the episode. Did I miss anything important?

About to watch Episode 7. I like the season so far, but I wish Eleven was more prominent.

Oh, she becomes prominent.

I'm guessing the other girl is Eight, although I thought Eight was a good 5-10 years older than Eleven.

Hoping the episode is totally centric on Eleven to make up for it.

Finished up the last 3 episodes tonight, and while entertaining, it wasn't nearly as good as season 1. They should have ditched the Eleven meeting her sister storyline and the new douchey step brother storyline and added more of the kids doing kid things. While the suspense and action were on par with season 1, it just lacked that charm that season 1 had.
I really wish Eleven would have joined the gang before the finale, but Steve was great with the kids. Steve and Dustin were definitely the highlights of this season.
ETA: RIP Samwise the Brave

No, great decision. That episode can be deleted from the season and the storyline wouldn’t miss a beat. It may set some things up in future storylines, but it was worthless short term. Rushed too, El is still learning new words but manages to hop on a bus to Chicago and make her way around town.

No offense, but the Eleven Episode was just OK. Didn't care for it that much. LOST regularly provided me with better centric episodes. I didn't learn about her that much. Granted it does have me craving Hawkins Labs to send someone after Eleven who has powers that didn't escape.

Its just out of place. After reading through some of the other posts in this thread, I agree that it would have been much better if they had spaced it out rather than putting it into one episode, right after a cliffhanger ending.
Spacing it out would have resulted in things flowing much better and setting the story line up better for future seasons.

Yeah, they should have made that the episode before. One of those retarded decisions like putting "Across the Sea" after the ultimate cliffhanger in LOST and not ending the last Rick and Morty season with "Tales from the Citadel".

I think they might. Seeing young 8 and 11 together in a lab testing their psychic powers felt like Fringe. Everyone complaining about it being out of place isn’t wrong. But it being so out of place suggests it’s setup for later.

Finished it and loved it, it's show like this that make me miss 22 episode seasons.
Most of this has been said.
It wasn't as good as S1 but only because S1 was such a surprise and an unknown.
I didn't mind 11's episode and I think we will see more in S3.
The sound track again was great.
Hopper is a boss with out MacGyver skills.
If Max and Billy aren't expanded on in future seasons then it was a waste of air time, but I didn't mind them.

I'm halfway through Episode 8, but they think Will is going to be fooled by his shack out back, the same shack where he was initially abducted? Even if you blindfold him, I'm sure he should be able to recognize the smell.
