Star Wars: Starfighter and potential future plans for the franchise - BIG SPOILERS

TLDR: we're allegedly getting a new Rey trilogy, and Starfighter is the setup movie

The rumor is that Flynn Grey is Amy Adams' character's son and he is highly force sensitive, so she hires Gosling's character to safely transport him somewhere where he'd be safe. That place ends up being Rey's new Jedi Academy where he ends up one of her first students. The Rey movie is then set 10 years later. If true, the "Disney is erasing the Sequels" crowd are going to have a bad day.

It could happen, but it seems like they are taking rumors of a Rey cameo and taking that to mean theres a whole planned trilogy based on her. Thats quite the leap

That's not speculation. That's been planned. It got put on the back burner because of how much people hated the last two movies of the sequel trilogy. Recently Daisy Ridley was questioned about it and it sounded like it was back on or at least in the works. I'd assume they're waiting until this movie releases before announcing her new trilogy.
