Man the part that shows Lucas and the other guys right after the rough cut screening is just fantastic.

like how everything was shot in front of green screens so the actors never were part of their environment so they never acted with it
This is a pet peeve of mine that he stated really simply and effectively in the review. He said the movie "lacked grit." And it's true. That's why I can't stand CGI environments and some CGI characters. It's all too clean and neat. No matter how sophisticated they make CGI, you can still tell the difference. I know there are some shots you just can't pull off without it, but there's something about looking at Lucas filming in Tunisia for the original Star Wars, and then seeing him in his "movie laboratory" filming Phantom Menace that really drives this home.
By the way, "Phantom Menace" is really a dumb title for the movie. So is "Attack of the Clones." Does a 7 year old name these movies?

well like he stated in his review, the Star Wars movies began sucking once Lucas was given full control of the franchise.
Just look at some of the examples of things Lucas wanted to do with New Hope but he was thankfully denied by movie execs

Probably the one time Movie Execs knew what they were talking about

The best observation he made was how the Jedi landed on Naboo hiding in a droid drop ship, quickly find the gungan lair where they are told the naboo surface city was on the other side of the planet.
So why were the droid landing ships landing on the opposite side of the planet from their target?
Good stuff.

I thought his best points were that they didn't focus on a main character in the beginning (leaving us not caring much about many characters) and having too many stories going on at the end, about 4. The other movies were more successful when they culminated down at the end to 1 or 2 stories. Also, the critic of the light saber fights was good and could be applied to all three prequels.

Really there is no need to go past #1.

Yeah I mean the Phantom Menace review really covered all 3 movies

And the sad thing is I didn't even think of this until he said it.

I like the kid size helmet and googles in the ship

well if they are invading the planet why wouldn't they send troops all over? He made better observations such as why would you take a robot on wheels, and goofy amphibian type creature and a teen aged girl to look for a ship part on a planet you is controlled by gangsters? 2 Why would the sith lord want to kill the queen when he needs her to call the vote of no confidence?

I'm through part four. I frankly think most of this stuff is "why do it that way", which you could do to just about every movie. The entirety of part 1 and the first half of part 2 where he talks about characters and plot and the differences between the the first and second trilogy are the most important points.

I didn't buy his points about light saber duals between the trilogies at all. That was his weakest argument to me.
It made perfect sense to me that the light saber duals in the original trilogies were kinda simplistic because you had first two older, past their prime guys that hadn't swung a saber in 20 years then later one of those guys against a kid that didn't know much what he was doing.
For that reason, it made perfect sense for the the sith/Jedi to be slinging it back when the Jedi order was alive and well with dudes at the top of their game.
That's how I saw it anyway.
So that was the one time the dude shot an airball to me.

Nah, that is spot on, the light sabre battles in the new movies are over choreographed, dudes flying around at super speeds, not really interesting at all.
