Then in a stand alone true reboot, he is killed early in the movie and MM is introduced. Going forward MM is spiderman in the avengers.
I'd have no problem with that.
It's a great way to tie Spidey into Civil War, kill off the non Marvel spidey movie universe, and bring the casual fan and current universe up to snuff.

If Sony really wanted to do something that would show the average movie goer something different they would follow the current Spider-Verse story line where this dude Morlun is going around to all the alternate universes and killing/eating Spider people.
You could then bring in Toby, Garfield, etc for one crazy arse flick.

If they did any crazy arse movie, I could go for one that ends with ben reilly becoming spiderman

I mean, if they actually had the balls to do Spider-Verse it would probably be the easiest and safest way to introduce multiple universes to the MCU.
I think you'd have enough fans of both the recent series that it would overcome a concept that Joe Blow might be a little overwhelmed by and pass on if it was a lesser character or new IP.

It wouldn't follow the comic with complete precision.
I'd say you could pull it off w/Toby, Andrew, the MCU Spidey, and maybe one or two others tossed in there. (Iron Spider, Ezekiel Sims, Goblin Peter?)
Sort of do it like the movie The One and have it to where Morlun is damn near done killing all the different Spideys. Open with a rando Spider-Man (Donald Glover) getting waxed and go from there.
This would have to be done after they already did at least one solo MCU Spider-Man though just to get him introduced.
Probably the 3rd solo MCU Spidey would be the best spot b/c TM and AG would still be young enough to get into shape.

They are going to go the safe route with these movies.

MM has a slightly different power set. He can actually deliver a venomous "shock" through his hands that can be transferred through his webbing as well.
I wonder if they're bold enough to introduce Silk (Cindy Moon, who was bitten by the same spider that bit Peter Parker. Whenever they are around each other, they have a primal urge to mate that they have both been able to suppress, but just barely)
