I think people are in for a surprise with how much time we'll spend with Theon in Winterfell this season.

I thought Littlefinger did it?
Littlefinger framed Tyrion for it. He didn't send the assassin.

It seems kind of stupid to me the way this next season is shaping up. I mean, they took two seasons to film book 3, and now it seems as if they are going to cut about 75% of the last two books. That doesn't make any sense especially considering the source material has run dry. Why not make two seasons out of the last two books?
There's a lot more filler with the last 2 books than there was in Storm of Swords (which really has no filler), and we've gotten to books 4 and 5 for multiple characters at this point. If they made 2 seasons out of the last 2 books, it would be watered down and boring as hell.

Be honest, you'd still watch it right?

Yes, but it would be a worse show as a result.

the Lannisters have never had a Valerian steel blade in their house
They did. It was called Brightroar and was lost shortly before Aegon's Conquest when one of the old Lannister kings took a fleet of ships to the ruins of Old Valyria. For 300 years they were unable to purchase a replacement at any price, so Tywin's brother Gerion went off to Valyria to find it. And never returned.

I read the books, but that comment never stood out as proof that he was behind Bran's death. It absolutely makes far more sense for Cersei to be behind his death. Joffrey killing Bran because he overheard Ned's conversation about pitying cripples is a weak reason at best, even if it is supposed to demonstrate how evil Joffrey is. Joffrey demonstrated evil enough that making him responsible for Bran's death is pointless. If this the author's intent is that Joffrey is indeed responsible, it's one of the weaker plot points in the story.
It makes far more sense for Cersei to be responsible.

I just wouldn't agree that is all uninteresting " filler". I would like to see the Iron Islands, Sam, Briene on her quest, and Dorne. Granted, A Feast For Crows was a huge disappointment. Like who gave a shite to hear Cersei's dillusional rambling?
Frankly, HBO has focused on some pretty puzzling shite already that didn't seem to have anything to do with the story. Like Davos and the Dragon scale princess.
Like I said , HBO has enough for two seasons, but seem to be content cutting 3/4ths of the two books and waiting for who knows how long to film a season 6.
Doesn't compute to me.

I'm curious to see how S5 pans out. D&D have said from the get go that they knew this season would be the most difficult to adapt for television and I agree with them. I just hope that it's a successful season.
I still think GoT needs 8 seasons total and that only going 7 seasons would feel too abrupt and wouldn't be fair to the character development and wrapping up plot lines.

Interesting. I don't remember that passage but looking it up you are right. I thought I even remembered it being mentioned that they didn't and never had one, maybe it was just currently and haven't been able to buy one.

Do you think the show will reveal who the hooded man is, or do you think they keep it a mystery like the books.

Been a while since I finished the books and I don't remember some details. What was the deal with hooded man?

I am also hazy on it, but I think he runs into Theon and tells him to remember who he really is. It is the motivation for him to save the fake Arya (jeyne poole).

Something about it being to poorly planned for it to have been Cersei
Cersei was no genius though look at book 4 as an example of her skills at planning things.

There's no way she would've been dumb enough to give a Valyrian blade to some common thug.

The only thing I remembered is that, in the show, after Joffrey got his new sword(widows wale?) and before he cut Tyrion's book u in front of everyone, he made a comment about being familiar with Valyrian Steel. This was a hint to him giving the assassin the Valyrian steel dagger he used to try and kill Bran.
