I went with my GF and was pleasantly surprised. its hit and miss for sure but I laughed more often than not. It gets pretty raunchy and insensitive in parts so its not for everyone. The actual story is pretty predictable though.
I worked at a Blockbuster in college. You would be surprised at how ignorant or just how little many parents care when it comes to what they let their kids view.
I once had to talk a woman out of letting her 10 year old rent a game called The Guy Game which was basically a trivia game with the goal of getting girls to strip. She literally could not comprehend that all video games are not cartoony like Super Mario even though right there on the damn box it had a picture of chicks in bikinis.
Then there was the father who got pissed off at me b/c I refused to let his 13 kid rent High Tension (R rated splatter fest) by himself. The kid had walked over from his house and their account even had a hold on letting him rent alone. The guy stormed in and got all up in my face about wasting his time as if I was being an a-hole for not taking a little kids word that it was ok for him to watch whatever he wanted.
When I told the guy the flick had things like throat slashing, a person getting beat with a barbed wire covered fence post, and female masturbation his face got all red and he mumbled something about going to Hastings (video, music, book store) from now on and left.

I also saw far too many young children in the theatre. WTF are these parents thinking?

The advertising campaign did a great job of linking Seth McFarlene to this movie.
The advertisers didn't need to do anything. Watch the trailer for 5 seconds and everyone in America knew that was the voice of Peter Griffin.

Not to mention the decapitated head/blowjob scene.

When I saw Hostel in theaters, there were parents who brought their kids who couldn't have been older than like 9 and 7. I was 18, and I wanted to go chew out the parents
