re: So, in Draft Day, after all was said and done, Costner ended up trading 3 #2's for a #1?

Seattle got the worst end of the deal giving up those three firsts back to Cleveland

especially since they only gave all those picks back just to move up one spot....the Seattle GM should've called Kevin Costner's bluff regarding that QB from Wisconsin. If the Browns were that interested in Bo, then they'd quit passing him over twice

I saw the sequel. Cleveland went 0-16.

I am curious how they ended up picking the Browns as the central team for the movie. It makes me wonder if they just went around to the various NFL franchise owners and just a handful wanted anything to do with the film. I thought the film was better than what I expected (which wasn't much).

it was originally supposed to be Buffalo, but they found out it was cheaper to make the movie in Ohio

getting THREE 2nd rounders is great. I think Jacksonville did the best. They clearly weren't interested in picking at #6
The NFL has a chart that people can use when calculating value for draft picks. Each slot in the draft is assigned a certain number of points. You can then use those values to make sure that the trades are somewhat equal.

The #6 overall spot in the draft is valued at 1600 points. The first spot in the second round is valued at 580 points, while the last spot in round 2 is valued at 270 points. Depending on the location of the three second round picks, their combined value would fall between 1690 points (first three slots) and 830 points (last three slots).

I would guess that the three second round slots were spread out, and not clustered together, so the total point value of those picks would be maybe in the 1000 - 1200 range. Add to that the punter, and you come pretty close to equal value in the trade.

I watched this late one night about a month ago, so my memory may be fuzzy. But, I think he (Costner)also got back the next two years' #1's he had originally traded to Seattle at the beginning of the film.

Everything about the transactions in the movie were totally unrealistic. An embarrassment.

I can't believe nobody in the NFL tried to change it.
