What's your point?

The movie was brilliantly written and is on a different level of thinking than most movies. I watched it three times in theaters and STILL had questions that I wished I could ask the director.

And the cinematography is incredible... you're doing it injustice by watching it on a small screen with piss poor sound quality.

Don't complain about a movie not living up to the hype if you're watching it on a 24 inch tube TV... that's all I'm saying.

why post in the middle of a movie? Your attention span probably needs some work.

I dont understand why people think this movie requires so much thinking to understand. I literally couldn't have been less confused about what was going on. I saw it the first time incredibly high and then rewatched it sober to make sure I wasn't missing something. I was in a PST(psychology, sociology, technology) class when this movie came out, where basically the whole premise is to ask yourselves what is real in our world and our teacher blasted this movie when it came out.

Me neither. At the very least it requires you to just not stare blankly at the screen with drool coming out of your mouth. People just like to make a mountain out of a molehill I guess

Well I think it has some complexity to it, it's not a really really deep film compared to other films. But I'm also not the kind of person that needs every single question answered for me so I tend to not overthink a movie

No it's not. Your saying it was a masterfully written different level thinking movie when in fact it wasn't.

It was good. And I will watch it again, but seriously, it wasn't on a different level.

For laughs I can be entertained by almost anything. But for psychological thrillers, I need something more than Inception delivered. I'd gladly start with banning that stupid arse music track playing endlessly in the background - making it abundantly clear the director is playing with people's susceptibility to be influenced by such influences. I don't need parlor tricks to be thrilled. A good story line will do just fine. I could also do without those grueling slow motion fight scenes in spinning rooms. There wasn't a more obvious example of a director's efforts to extend the length of the movie to thrill the Bill and Ted types.

what a snob.
and if inception can't deliver to you're high expectations, what can?

Yes it was.

There is a 39 page thread on this board that is nothing but people arguing about different parts of the movie, its significance, and all kinds of details that are overlooked the first time through.

Go read through all 39 of those pages - and then DARE to tell me it wasn't on a different level.

Or else dare to lie to me and tell me your brother's name is Christopher Nolan.

LINK

ETA: It also ranks #6 ALL-TIME on IMDB's top 250 movies of all time list - with an average of 9.0 out of 10 with over 200,000+ different people rating it. That's good enough for the 2nd highest ranking of any movie ever in the database.

Learn how to quote.

And to superman, seriously, #6? that's fricking laughable.

Also LSU might have or already did win SI.com's virtual championship.

And the human centipede had a 100+ page thread. Must be the goat.

The Dark Knight was #1 on IMDB for a few months. Fan boys tend to inflate the ratings of popular new releases. Inception is a great movie, but #6 all time is laughable.

I will never get all of the fuss about Inception. I saw it, enjoyed it, but I have no desire to see it again.

I really lked the movie. It was probably built up too much for me to really really like it. But it's not in my top 10. Doubt it's in my top 50 though I don't care enough to make a top 50.

I enjoyed it, want to see it again, but top 10? Are you kidding me?

The more I reflect on this movie the more I hate that they even bothered to include his wife. She felt more like an annoying plot device than a character worth having in the damn story.

She was an integral part of the movie, IMO. In most movies, the good guy has to defeat the one villain or maybe a group of his friends. In Inception, Cobb's wife plays the part of the villain - and one that he can't get rid of because she is only a projection of his imagination and she follows him around wherever he goes. Another brilliantly written portion of the movie, IMO.

If for no other reason, she was there to show inception can be done and if done can change a person.

Something I was confused about or maybe they got it wrong:
The kick. It seems like it was reversed as far as perception is concerned. I was under the impression that if you got the "kick" while dreaming, you were wakened from the dream. In the movie, when you had the kick in the dream, you woke up from it.
Just wondering.

Nope, lower your expectations. You should have seen it in the theater. At least then you would have been entertained by the pseudo-intellectuals. Even with that, I almost fell asleep in the theater.

Prepare to have 2 hrs of your life taken from you with no benefit to show for it.

Yeah the praise for this movie . . . especially the attempts to read some sort of deep meaning into it . . . is ridiculous. A very well done technical achievement, but that's about it.

No shite. For example, as far as a true "psychogical thriller" is concerned, Black Swan is an order of magnitude beyond Inception.

When did Inception become the Hangover of 2010 on the Movie/TV Board?
