I think they should but they probably won't.

they would be retarded not to. he WAS the show.

surely he would be willing to do it after he was the star for ~6 seasons.

It's been discussed here before. He's stated he won't be back because Michael Scott went out the way he wanted him to leave.

I'll resent him the rest of my life if he doesn't come back. It's not even up for debate.

Of course they should. And I think Steve Carrell should do it even though he's already said otherwise and given his reasons.

I'd love it even if he wasn't a big part of the finale and was just sort of looking from afar. Just feels almost wrong for such an awesome show with an awesome lead to not have him in there (somewhere) one last time.

No, that storyline has come and gone.
There are plenty of other storylines that would not need his presence to end it.

With the way it's been lately, he probably has no desire to come back.

maybe a shot of him and holly watching an episode of the documentary from afar as an homage or something.

I wish they could, but I jus don't think you could do it unless it was perfect. I think it could very easily come off forced considering he's been out of the loop for so long. Unless he came back for the last few episodes, I think that could mitigate that

I agree with this.

Have him end it with a "that's what she said."

It's not going to happen.

Carrell has said numerous times and recently he isn't coming back

It's his choice. Not the office brass.

keeping it quiet so it is a surprise for all the fans of the show. Much respect.

At this point I'd be happy if they brought Robert California back.

I tend to agree with SC, if he is indeed out. The way some of the writing has been I doubt they could script him a better exit than the one he already had.

If they bring him back, it will probably be for an after the credits scene like they have for every episode. Maybe Jim & Pam are watching the documentary and they call Michael. Or they fire Andy and they show him driving into the parking lot to return.

If he's in it, it will be very brief.
